Full Version: Say A Little Prayer

I am not sure if this is where I should post this but please say a little prayer for my baby girl....

Here is the story...

Pistachio appears to not be feeling well. She vomited yesterday several times. I had fed her some stuff called Feather Glow from Volkman, it is a bean and wheat mix that you boil, then cool and feed. This is primarily what she vomited.

I walked by her cage to see how she was doing and she started to vomit again, so I am not sure if it is being sick or if she is starting to regurgitate for me. She is guestimated to be 8-9 months old.

Also, on Tuesday we were having some drainage work done in the house and some Sulfuric Acid was used to clear the drains. I had all the windows open and Pistachio outside on the back deck. I was hoping that this was enough to protect her from the fumes. I hope this is not the cause.... Sulfuric Acid does horrible things to a respiratory tract if inhaled at full strength. There were no doors or windows opened to the back porch, but still!

Please say a little prayer for her. The vets office opens at 730 am and I will call and make an appointment. I am a pessimist so I fear the worst.

Thanks guys
Teresas

Ok, so the vet said that it could have been stress related from the plumbers being in the house, residual gas affects combined with new food.

She has a little bit of a sour crop and we are going to watch her to make sure everything is ok. We are not starting antibiotics just yet. But she did give me a few natural alternatives that I could do to help with the sour crop. She said it wasn't that bad and I caught it at a good time. It also could have come up because of the vomiting.

So all is good, I'll update you all after the weekend. I don't have access at home anymore, so this will be my last post until I return to work on Monday.

Yes, I think we will not feed the mix for a few days and then I will eat it and see what it does to me. I took the mix to the vets and she said it looked and smelled fine. But I through out that batch and will start over. For now she is going to just be on her pellets until the sour smell goes away. Which the vet said would probably be by tonight.

I'll keep you all posted on Monday. Thanks Guys

So relieved to hear that all appears to be well after all! You may find that Pistachio may not like the mix anymore (but associate it with the vomiting). wink.gif Have seen something like that with (unsweetened) cheerios, but it didn't last...

I would not mind hearing more about those "natural alternatives". You seem to have a good vet, btw. smile.gif

The crazy chicken is just fine. She drank her OJ like a good girl, and was swinging around like a crazy chicken yesterday. She flew all over and was having a blast! I would say she is back to her normal self.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers.
