Well, we've added yet another rescue to our flock. Introducing Teddy the Nanday Conure!

Four is a great number. That means I can have two more! Wait... do finches really count? How about canaries? Because if they do, then I'm WAY over my limit. If you count them I guess I have 7 birds. If you don't count them then I'm still OK at two. That Nanday is lovely!!!

HaHa! That means I can get 3 more. I'm gonna tell my husband that you said so! lol

Congrats! Nandays are fun birds, but don't be surprised if one day you hear Teddy screaming like he is being murdered...just a friendly warning from one Nanday owner to another Seriously though, congratulations on your new addition!

Personally, I think Nandays are the loudest of the Conures. But that wouldn't stop me from getting one.

I adore Nandays!!! Their little red pants are sooooooo darn cute!!!!

I'd known Ted for a couple of months before he moved in, so I got to experience his "vocal range" first-hand prior to the move. I'd have to agree with Carrie~Anne - Nandays ARE the loudest Conures!! He's better than having a guard dog, though. I definitely know when there is someone walking within sight of my house, or if there is <eek> a bug of any kind in the bird room.

Ted is only 2 years old, but he's not very socialized at all. He's afraid of hands and screeches like a baby if you come at him from above to pet his head! We've only been together for a week and a half, so we're still learning each others language. He's discovered that he really, really likes scritches though, so he's trying to be tolerant of me.

Glad to know that there are other Nanday owners here. I might need your advice as Teddy and I get to know each other.

He sure is a handsome young dude! Congratulations! And I have to agree about their loudness! I took in a rescue but after attacking hubby a couple times and the constant noise I gave her to my daughter because hubby put foot down.

(Only four! You are just getting started! LOL)

I think you're preaching to the choir about quantity! As far as being the loudest conure...NOPE...Patagonians win hands down...But that doesn't mean Nanday's aren't loud...WHEW...stock up on ear plugs...for the neighbors! LOL Congrats.
