Over the past few days there have been many more feathers at the bottom of Zayza's cage than usual. She is 3 years old. We adopted her about a month ago. Could she just be molting?

Yes, mostly. There are maybe 2 outer featers, but I've seen those in the cage before.

my birds are molting right now and I see all sizes of feathers. Not too many big ones but mostly little downy feathers. I would definitely watch your bird and check for any bald spots. I am kind of still leaning towards molting. Just my opinion. I am not an expert.....

Yeah I haven't seen any plucking from her and she doesn't have any bald spots at all. I just get concerned about any new behaviors because I've had her for such a short time. I worry about what her life before living with us was like and what old habbits might show up.

If you don't see any bald spots/actual plucking it is probably a molt. Of my ten birds, six are the middle of heavy molts right now.
If you want to make her more comfortable, make sure she gets some extra bathes to help with the itchiness.

Thanks for all of the advice. I'm sure she is just molting. I'll just keep trying to keep her environment free of stress. Thank you all!

If its been really hot there most likely its molt...My amazon just let go of a whole slue of feathers and it worried me a little cuz we'd done some changes and as I looked closer most of the feathers are partly downy and so he's trying to lose the insulation and heating factor...
Just make sure you increase the birds protien intake if you can...cooked eggs boiled chicken including the bones etc...
