Hi! My name is Megan and I just got my quaker yesterday. I've worked with birds for several years (pet retail) and have had the pleasure of working with quakers. I have always found them to be delightful but what really made made them click for me was a moment on a southwest flight. I was flying out to see my mom (and if you have ever flown Southwest..you have to pick your own seat...they aren't assigned). Well I was in the A group so I found a nice window seat near the back and a very delightful woman asked if she could sit next to me. I told her yes and she said "I just wanted to ask becuase I have a bird on my shoulder." I didn't even see the little bird perched on her shoulder and I looked closely and I said "OH! You have a Quaker!" She was excited to see that I knew what it was and the bird was great through the entire flight. Ever since then I had wanted one of my very own.
LoL so yesterday I picked up Sam from work. Sam hatched 4-29-07 and is still being handfed. I'm not sure if Sam is a girl or a boy. He's still getting use to his new surroundings...but I can't wait for his personality to come out once he's made himself at home.
Here is a picture of Sam...it's not the greatest...I'll try to take better ones soon.
