Ok..so Otis and I have been getting along really good. He is 5 months old. I have had him for 4 weeks. He must have woken up on "the wrong side of the perch" this morning. As soon as I opened his door today, he was nippy. I let him climb to the top of his cage on his own and tried "step up", but he turned his back on me! I even made eye contact with him. Well, I blocked his escape route and repeated "step up" He thought he would nip at me instead. So I walked out of the room, to the kitchen, where he can still see me. We have this routine every morning eating breakfast, etc..As soon as I get in the kitchen he starts calling for me. Well! What nerve!! The entire day has been like I have a 2 year old. I miss those days!(my kids are 21, 16 and 13)Throwing food off of his cage, won't take a bath, chewing his perch from the outside of the cage, I could go on and on!
He is still SO cute....going after my mouse, peeking around my computer as I type, knocking on the table..saying come in..hello..He bobs up and down and I always say "go Otis, go Otis." He is bobbing and saying go..go..go
He is a green monster today!!!

Yep, they all have their days!
Casey had one of those really bad days a little while ago; I swear, everything she could get into she tried! We switched up some stuff around her cage, added some toys and a connecting ladder to another play area to keep her amused and it seemed to work. They just like to push their boundries!

It just shows he's getting comfortable with everything and is trying to see what he can get away with!
That "go Otis" is too cute!

You need a video of that!

Good luck!

I'm scared of the end of the honeymoon

How long does that usually take? And is there any way to prolong the good days? (other than photos)

I wish I could get it on video. Everytime I bring out the camera he gets "shy" I will try to set it out sometime, maybe he won't notice it is on..
As for the honeymoon period, it lasted about 1 month. But don't get me wrong, he is still so much fun. Just a little testy today!
I change his cage all the time, but do not have a play area yet. We play on the kitchen table with toys that are not really toys!

Just like children. They will push and push trying to see what they can get away with.
