This morning for breakfast, I had 'fired' eggs. This was right on the menu because it's a correctly spelled word and SpellCheck doesn't check context.
So, what other words (preferably with just switching 2 letters) would slip by SpellCheck?

Example:

fried .. fired
best .. bets

pets .. pest

stop and pots

weather whether

There, Their and THEY'RE Or sew and so

Spell Check won't catch EON when you meant to spell ONE or TOT HE instead of TO THE

Tried and Tired

Father and Farther

accept or except

wine and whine, beet and beat,meet and meat.

Hubby is an English teacher. His kids were turning in papers on the novel Lord of the Flies. The paper was to be about the "savages" in the book. One of his lovely students used spellcheck and it caught a misspelled "savages"-- the kid proceeded to replace all:

savages --- sausages

haha-- the whole paper ended up being about the sausages living on an island and fighting with one another. Those horrible sausages!

Oh now that's funny Michelle!

newspaper typos are some of the most amusing ones.

beef stripe instead of beef tripe.

Oh don't even get me started on newspaper typos!! You would think that a PROFESSIONAL paper would have people on the job who actually PROOFREAD the articles! I can not believe how many newspaper articles use words in wrong context, or wrong words .... period. And it is soooooooooo irritating to begin to read a story, get to the bottom where it says continued on page 4 and on page 4 it DOES NOT CONTINUE!! AARRRGGGHHH

Any wonder why I refuse to subscribe?

ps - the typos we have online are different ... we aren't being PAID for our words ... and we usually finish what we start
