Well, Maddie has been 'home' for 2 1/2 months now. I adore that sweet little soul. She is polar opposite of Poppy, and it amazes me that they are the same species.
She is so cage aggressive it is unbelievable. She does the war cry when I even open her cage, and sometimes I have to wait up to 15 minutes before she comes out.
Question 1: Should I just continue letting her have her space and not push the issue, or should I work with her about letting me reach in?
She is beginning to become very affectionate in her own way. Finally, she has moments when she stands on me erect, rather than crouched down ready to take flight. This has taken longer than I expected. She loves kisses and asks for them, but when I go to give her some, she grabs my lip and quakes like she is trying to regurgitate. I am not sure about this, but it sure seems that is what she is doing. I do pull away quickly, but Question 2: How do I discourage this?
She could be considered nearly the perfect little birdie. She is quiet, talks in my presence, makes me laugh a lot, and never gets into things (unlike her counterpart).
When I say I have to go back to work, she climbs in her cage. I don't think she likes individual attention so much, but I make a point of giving her some daily anyway.
She is a bundle of nerves, I must say. Her poop is runny most of the time, and I worry about that, but it seems to be the norm for her. Question 3: Can this be normal?
Finally, She and Poppy get along wonderfully. He is a wee bit jealous and he does not like me loving on her if he is near. Yesterday, he was on my finger and I was giving her kisses. He would jump right in and steal them. The second I cracked a smile, they both started laughing! They are soooo smart and wonderful!
One last question, though it is about the monster, Poppy. Lately when I have to go back to work or at bedtime, Poppy does not want to go in his cage and he is starting to bite and trying to clamp down on me so I can't let go. What is this behavior and how do I stop this?
Thanks for listening, reading, and hopefully some ideas! You are all wonderful!

Wow lg lots of questions let me try to tackle some

Well actually I have a question for you if I recall you are pending surgery and are going to be one handed for a few weeks? If I am right...sometimes I am not in remembering stuff so forgive...maybe you want to wait until you are finished recovering before starting anything major when it comes to training and behavior changes? My reason is that once you start something you have to be consistant with it and I think its going to be hard to do that while you are recovering?
In re to the runny poop is it bad runny or? Sometimes diet plays a role in how runny the poop is I notice sometimes if my fids have had alot of fruit or juice it will be more runnier than usual. I guess if your vet says its normal than it probably is but if you havent had the bird in for a check up now might be the time before your upcoming surgery.
Hang in there woman!

You are absolutely right. Now would probably not be the time to try to make changes by yelling from my bed, haha!
As for her poop- yes, she has been to the vet quite a bit. Twice in the weeks before I got her, and once after I got her (and a wing clip and board). She is always runny, always. She is on Zupreem and gets fresh fruits and veggies daily. I think it is just nerves, I really do. I also think she is a little overweight, as I see some "rolls" at her breastbone but she has actually lost since I have had her. I should also add that she sneezes a lot more than Poppy, but there is no discharge that I have ever seen. Other than that, she is happy, healthy, and nervous!

Well I am glad I remembered something hee....
I know you will be focusing on your recovery so you might not want to start anything drastic till you are better. just my opinion tho.
I am sure both your fids are happy they have you for their mommy afterall! When you are better there is lots you can do.
