We lost our Nadian this weekend. I got up one morning and went to check the birds and Nadian was at the bottom of the cage.

I'm not sure what happened. He was fine the night before, being his sweet self. We were Nadian's third home and I am unsure of how old he was. We were told that he was around 4 years of age, but we were also told he was a 'she'. So I don't hold much faith in his age.

When Nadian came to me he was very hand shy, but you could tell he just wanted to be loved. So after working with him on a daily basis for several months, we won his trust. He was such a wonderful bird.

I haven't had a chance to tell the boys yet, as they are at their dad's house. But I know they will be just as crushed as I am. Nadian was one of those birds that stole your heart with his sweet singing and gentle kisses. He will be dearly missed.

Oh Carrie Anne I'm so sorry!! I know how hard it is when we lose one of our little ones.

It's good that he found you and had the chance to live out the rest of his life being loved they way he deserved.

Oh Carrie~Anne, I am SO SORRY! I remember looking at your website once and seeing him...and I remember thinking he was the MOST beautiful cockatiel I had ever seen. When I just read your post, and saw "Nadian," I honestly knew exactly who he was because I thought he was so beautiful!

I'm very sorry, Carrie~Anne. Nadian was a lucky boy to have found his home with you. I've recently lost a loved tiel much the same way -- went to serve dinner and found her dead in the flight, liver disease. She'd hatched here 10 years ago, so I'd loved her every single day of her life and know how sad you must be feeling.

Oh Carrie I'm so sorry. Boy do I know how hard it is to lose a fid! You watched over him and kept him safe when he came home to you, and now he is watching over you and keeping you safe from heaven.

Carrie~Anne, I am so sorry for your loss. Take heart in knowing that in your home, with the love and patience of you and your boys, Nadian finally learned what it is to be loved. You and your boys were the ones that taught Nadian the joys of being part of a family, the joys of being a much loved member of the flock. He learned stability and regained his spirit through the efforts of you and your children. He may not have been able to say it in words, but I know he thanked you for the love you showered him with.

I want to thank all of you. Your kind words and support mean so very much.

It has been a long time since I lost one of my pets and I'm having a harder time dealing with this than I ever thought I would. I absolutely dread having to tell the boys. Seems they've had some hard lessons in life the last few years (they've lost two hamsters and a rat).

The other tiels are doing alright, although they know that he is gone. When I removed him from the cage, the flock calling that they always do when one of the tiels leaves, was absent. His mate, Lokie, has been especially affectionate with me, which is good because it helps us both to heal.

So once again, I thank you all.

Awww, Carrie, I'm really bummed you lost one of your babies. I know to you they are like family. There is never any such thing as "just a Cockatiel", they are just as much family as any other pet.

You have my deepest sympathies, and I hope you find the strength needed to tell you sons, and to be there for them as their rock.
