Hello everyone. I haven't been on lately for a number of reasons with health being one of them. Anyway, Pepper is never locked in his cage. All of his toys are on the floor beneath his cage. There is a heavy plastic tablecloth with lining that is laid out under his cage and this is where we scatter his toys. He used to take them and push them all around on the hardwood floor. Now, he seems to just stay in the cage or under the cage. He's either 4 or 5 now. Some of you with older birds, do you think this is age? I notice that when I leave and come back, he is either in the cage or on top of the cage. We have retired and moved to a retirement area so we aren't home as much as we used to be. Just wondered what your thoughts were.

I don't think it is age as Morgan is 11 and builds like a 1 year old. My moms QP is about 8 and is always playing with his toys.

How long has he been like that? Have you tried changing out his toys?

You say that you have moved. Is it a recent move? If so maybe he is just getting used to the new surroundings. Some of these guys take a long time to come around. You also say you are not around as much as you used to be. You know these are social little guys and like to be around people. Maybe he is getting depressed.

And then you say you have been having health problems. Maybe he is reacting to this also.

Don't know if I helped much but I hope he gets back to normal soon.

Maybe he is bored and so now napping more while you are gone.

My quaker is not too interested in toys either, but he never had been. He is happy to sit on his cage and preen or just watch the world go by. He has one or two toys that he chews on occasionally but other than that will not touch them at all. He is about 3 1/2
