Not sure if any of these will fly, but.... biggrin.gif

For the search function. Is it possible to have the words we search for be changed to less than 4 letters in the word? Sometimes when I'm using the function, I can't use the word I want, because it is under 4 letters. For example, I went to search 'sun conure' and it wouldn't let me because 'sun' is under 4 letters.

And the other thing is pictures. Would it be possible to allow more than 3 photos per post? I know it may cause difficulties with those members who have slower connections, but I really don't think it will matter as if we want to post more then three photos, we have to post again right away (so all the pics are included in one post). (which, in my opinion, is a big hassle)

And a question about posts with photos in them. I've noticed that when I look through past posts, the writer refers to a picture, but the picture is gone (this is with older posts). So I imagine there is a set time that the photo remains in the post and then the forum automatically deletes the photo to save on space. If that is true, how long do the photos last in the posts?

Thanks smile.gif

Would 6 letters be enough?

We can set it to 6 .. We do realise that all the person has to do is post again but I think the purpose is to discourage people from posting more then the alloted amount because it is harder on those with dial up ..

No ... there is no set time for attachments or images in posts. The member is in control of this as follows:

If the person who posted the image did so via attachment then they have deleted the attachment in their My Controls then the picture will be gone. Members are allotted a given amount of space and may need to delete their older attachments to free up some space.

If they posted the image via a link to either their gallery or outside photo storage site then later deleted the image, then the image would be gone.

OK, what am I missing?? If a minimum of 4 is too high, 6 would be more so.

I think Dee misunderstood. I also think a minimum of 4 is to high, as I have often times had difficulties searching because one of the words is less than 4 letters.

Dahhhh .. sorry I meant to type 3 ...

The search has been changed to 3 letters and the images per post where already at 6 images .. I just tested this in a mod forum and I was able to post 6 images without error. When I attempted to post the 7th image I received an error.

Has anyone tried to post more then 3 and received an error? If yes can you tell me what the exact error was?

Thanks

LOL - I didn't know if it was a typo or if I just wasn't grasping something there.

Just a thought would the search have worked if you had written sunconure as one word..?? just curious here, never used it myself..lol..

Holy cow!!!! It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice! biggrin.gif

That must of been changed in the last few weeks because we couldn't post more then 3 pictures in one post prior to that.

No, the program looks for absolute matches (including spaces) in the database.

Without using the exact words, it goes something like this:
if (search = "formdata") { return findings; }
if (words < 3) {Jump down users throat with nasty error message;}

Yep, Buddy is right. I tried the 'sunconure' and I only got one page of threads. And I know there is more than that laugh.gif

Anyways, thanks Dee for making that change. Greatly appreciated!! smile.gif
