Some of your may remember that Bill and I adopted Andie's senegal, Marshall. Well, Marshall LOVES Bill and likes me, but would bite the dickens out of me every time that I would ask him to step up.

Well, the other day he came to me on his own and was cuddled into my arm wub.gif :

This is just another of his many small steps to really starting to trust me. He wants to like me, but something in his history (pre-Andie, she worked wonders with him, thanks Andie!) made him very shy of women.

Well, today, since Bill is out of town I was playing with the birds alone. Andie said that Marshall was more receptive to woman when men weren't around, and since Marshall has been so sweet to me lately, I tried to have him step up... and he DID! And he was so well behaved and sweet the whole time he was on me.

Good boy Marshall! wub.gif

He is at LEAST 9 years old now...that's as far back as we can trace him. He's been through SEVERAL rescues before me, and I know that Becky and Bill will be his last home. biggrin.gif When I was single (BA, Before Axel) he was the sweetest thing ever to me and would just be my little buddy. But the minute Axel met him, he turned on me! He wanted Axel and no one else. He prefers men, and Marshall is DNA'd male and has all the male "typical markings". I am so happy he's doing so well with Bill and Becky. Axel is STILL talks about the "Marshall bird". I love hearing the great stories of how well "my fids" are doing...LOL

He's a real doll. We took him to the vet a few months ago and she thought he may be as old as 15, though its almost impossible to be sure because before Andie, we can't be sure of the environment he was in. It looks like he has some arthritis in one of his feet, but that could be age, inadequate perch variety when he was young, from a injury, or a combination of factors.

But we love him dearly and he's spoiled completely rotten wub.gif He's currently in a cage that is big enough for a grey (24 x 36)and he LOVES the space. He's a huge chewer as well and he have cloth, wood, and plastic to chose from, depending on his mood.

Way to go Becky. smile.gif

I don't know what it is about Sennies. blink.gif I've heard so many stories about them winding up one person, or one sex, birds.

Buddy is just like that. Loves me to death. The only time he ever bites is when I try and put him down somewhere. He loves me so much he just hates to be put down so he bites.

Mrs. can get him to step up and thats it. He just doesn't want anything to do with her...unless she has one of the other birds on her, then he wants to be with her so he can attack them. ohmy.gif

I'm glad you are meking progress with Marshal though. Getting bit by a Senegal is not fun. WOW!

No offence. but I always look at Buddy and Senegals in general, and they look just like they want to rip your face off just for fun. blink.gif

I always think the beak looks waaay too big in proportion to the head. It just looks dangerous....like a pit bull.

Maybe you have to be there when the "Evil Eyes" start pinning, and the head starts turning "a la Exorsist". I know and trust Buddy, and it still looks freaky. unsure.gif

That is great news to hear Becky about Marshall...He looks like a sweetie....

My sister has a senegal and the end of that beak on Gemeni looks intimidating to me....He loves sister very much and when she makes a trip out of town, I always have the opportunity to have him for several days...In fact I'll have him again the week of the 24th...And he and I get along very well....Sister and I are about the only two he likes and I can't explain that one either.....

Just keep up the good work Becky and I know Marshall will come around.... tongue.gif
