I was honestly hoping to never ever have to post in this part of the forum, but we all know we can't keep our feathered babies forever. Today Puppy passed away and I find myself posting here.

I raised Puppy and her three clutch mates from chicks. Hand feeding four babies at once was chaos, but fun. I kept the smallest and found homes for the other three. I named that little baby "Puppy," because my husband at the time, wanted to have a dog, but I'm allergic to them. Quaker Parrots are just as trainable as dogs, so I thought the name Puppy would be perfect. It was.

Puppy learned to say and do all sorts of things, but she never did like my x husband, or anyone besides me for that matter. Puppy said about 80 words, whistled classical music pieces, and killed stray socks to death.

Puppy hated other people and barked if they stood too close to me. She didn't bark like a dog would bark, but instead said it like a person saying the word bark. This didn't really endear her to other people and neither did Puppy's need to defend her cage so viciously. I know several people who longed for this day to come for Puppy, but they didn't know the side of Puppy that she only showed to me. Nobody else loved Puppy, but I did.

Puppy would sit in the middle of my chest and cuddle for hours. She would give me kisses and run her beak through my hair. Puppy treated me better than most people have in my life. Now Puppy is in the care of God and being rewarded richly for the love she showed me.

Thank you Lord for the time you let me have with Puppy. Through her I got to experience a little bit of the love that you have for me and in that I am truly blessed. Amen.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Puppy....sounds like she really loved you as you did her..
