QUOTE (Julies Jungle @ Feb 7 2008, 12:50 PM)

I am having some major health issues and do not see them getting better in the future, possibly facing back surgery and am considering rehoming some of my fids. This is heart wrenching to me so please be kind(no harch words as I know this is a touchy subject). I need to do this while I am able to find good homes just not any ole home.
I would like to find someone from the forum to give them a good loving home and also if possible to keep them together.
They each have their cage but they are the best of buds. Blue is less than a year old and I have only had him a couple of months. He is very skittish, doesn't like hands but once you catch him he will let you hold him. We was progressing on the step up command when I was put on bed rest a few months back so we are starting over again.
PeeWee is a green quaker which I rescued last year from a closet. He is very cage territorial but once he sees the glove he steps up or flys to the top of the cage then he is very loveable. He loves his bath. He is apx. 2 years old according to the lady I got him from. They both are on Zupreem natural and fruitblend mixed. And they get either a nutriberry or an avi cake in the evening and they know it. Each would come with their cage and toys.
If you would consider giving these 2 a forever home please let me know. I need to find a forever loving home and I do not want them bounced around.
Thanks for listening as my heart is broken but it is in their best interest.
Hi Julie. I am soo sorry you are having difficulties. I don't post here very often as I am owned by 16 Fids (feathered Kids)...but, I always check postings.
I'd like to offer a home to your two Fiddies. I have a small in-home rescue/sanctuary located just east of Cincinnati, Ohio. Among my Fiddies are 2 Green Quakers...
Rosie was brought to me by a drug inforcement agent/officer after being swept up in a drug bust (her former owner, not her...she is clean LOL) Rosie is 3 years old and cage territorial (most Quakers are!)but sweet when taken from top of cage.
Holly had a wonderful first home, but due to the aging of her former owner who was placed in a nursing home, Holly was about to be 'released' into the wild by the owner's son when someone 'knew someone' and Holly was taken to their home instead...turned out the home was in Kentucky (Quakers are illegal there) so Holly was 'hidden' in a back bedroom until my Avain vet heard about her and refered them to me...Holly has been part of my Flock for a year and only pluckes during 'hormone rises'.
Anyway...I offer 2 cooked meals a day, fresh fruits and veggies daily, Higgins Medium Hookbill Seed/Zupreem Pellets in cages 24/7, fresh water 2xday and most importantly...lots of personal attention and love. Most of my Fiddies spend their days on top of their cages/or on play stands when not on me/husband (who is disabled and home) and on weekends my grandchildren (ages 6-14) spend lots of time with the Fiddies.
My Avian vets are Dr. jeff Werwa and Dr. Bob Dahlhausen both in Cincinnati, Ohio.
I still keep in touch (email/pictures)with several of the former owners who placed Fiddies with me and enjoy sharing with them.
If this is something you might be intersted in let me know so I can make arrangements for transport.
Again, I am soo sorry you have to even consider rehoming you Fiddies.
