Marshall had a swing awhile ago that he LOVED... but what he loved about it what taking it apart...
New swing...

After three or four days...

So basically Bill and I were left with the base. Well, all of the fleece toys we've bought have been such hits, we went out and bought a few yards to try making our own fleece toys... look at our first creation!

All we did was cut it 1 to 1 1/2 inch by 6 to 8 inches rectangles and tie them on the base. Pretty nice, no?

That's lovely! I have made them for Kiwi and Bo as well. They absolutely love them. Bo's looks like Marshall's in a few days. He loves shredding that thing. Kiwi is a little lady about it and just sits in hers whenever she is in her cage. I think she'd rip into anyone or anything that tried to shred hers.

I've made 50+of those for sugar gliders. They love to glide back and forth to them. After a while it makes you fingers hurt from all of the tying.
This a full set but you cam see it in the bottom right corner.

There are a few other fleece toys there that you might want to try to make also.

Ive bought them but never made them. One of my caiques sleep on it. The others just play on theirs. But they dont tear them up. Never even seen them chewing on them.

Georgia, you should make them and sell them. Depending on the size, I sell mine for $8.00.
Try it.

I make those too - you can also use old embroidery hoops. Mongo loves to untie them and fling the fleece everywhere. I make fleece blankets so I use the scraps from that to make them. I also make dog ches toys with the scraps - they are great for helping clean there teeth.

I use the embroidery hoops from Walmart. They are cheap and one hoop makes 2 of these when you take it apart. My birds love them. The first ones I made were made from just plain cotton fabric, not fleece. They were pretty thin and pitiful. I have used fleece since. Bo shreds his. Kiwi doesn't chew hers at all They both love them.

For those of you that have made the fleece swings do you tie them in a double knot or just once? I have started one and I am tying them in a double knot to TRY and keep them from destroying it quicker lol Any help, hints or tips will be appreciated!! Thanks in advance,

All I do is take an embroidery hoop from Michaels, and a bunch of strips of fleece that area bout 2 inches wide and nearly 6 inches long, I double knot the fleece really tight all around the hoop smooshing the fleece really close together, leaving just enough room to tie a tiny strip of bird safe leather to tie it to the top of the cage w/! I have made 2 so far and need some more stuff to make 2 more!!
