OK, this is just a thought I had since I'm on a big photography kick right now. I wasn't sure where to post this or who to PM about it, so I'll just slap it up right here smile.gif

My thought is to have a pinned topic called the Digital Picture Exchange. We all love seeing pictures of each other birds, and I know I love to be surrounded by pictures of birds tongue.gif The basic idea is this:
1. submit a print quality, uncropped/altered photo of your bird (or a bird you've encountered wild or domestic).
2. choose a photo submitted by other members of the forum.

This would not be for those everyday shots we love to see smile.gif but rather for the exceptional photos worthy of hanging up in your home. See a photo you like, send a PM request to the owner and receive a copy of the original file! Pice of cake. Now that person can reproduce the photo for craft, frame, collage, who knows.

I came up with this because I would love to have a collage wall of my friends birds! I'll be moving soon and once again my room will also be my birds room and I want it to be enjoyable for all of us. Let me know if I explained this so everyone can understand. And yes, I would be happy to be in charge of this and would even be willing to archive all the original files so we always have record of members one in a million shots just in case rolleyes.gif

This also maybe helpful for future QP calendars, that great picture you took in jan doesn't have to be forgotten when calendar submission time rolls around cool.gif

I think this could work really well smile.gif

But would the original photos not take up a lot of space on the forum? If it does, it could be easy enough to work around, but I'm not sure it would be fair to take up so much space with the photos.

Excellent point Carrie~Anne ...

We could easily put up a thread and pin it however space versus quality may be an issue.

Currently all members have a global space of 25 mb for their total attachments. The members would need to work within that allotted space. Also the max upload per attachment is 2mb. I'm not sure that a jpg at 2mb or less is really print quality .. depending on what you are doing with the image ..

How bout if we put a restriction on it that if you are posting a picture under the thread, it has to be posted using an online photo album like Photobucket or Image Event. This way it won't take up space on the forum. Would that work if we did it like that?

Absolutely .. Then you could link to your image and regardless of the size the forum software now resizes the image to fit in the post message box.

YES! I love this idea biggrin.gif like I mentioned, it would be no problem for me to archive images (the original large files) on my computer/disk BUT I think that photobucket is a much better idea then it is easy access to us at all times. Any other suggestions to spice up the plans? What's the next step?

Thanks for getting involved guys, glad I came up with a winner tongue.gif
