I know I have seen at least two others from Northern Virginia post on here. Who else is here?

I am in Herndon. I would love to know good places around locally to find toys. I know there is DJ Feathers in Chantilly, Featherheads in Sterling....there must be others as well.
Trixie
I'm a brand-new Quaker parent in Falls Church.
Peppe
Hi, I am in Culpeper. I have had Mollie since she was 7 months old, and have been a member here for over a year. There is another place I believe in Manassas called Lone Eagle, and they have a web site. I get a lot of Mollie's toys from Pets Mart and order from Foster and Smith for birds. I have been to DJ Feathers when she had it at her home and also to Featherheads. Featherheads was cool and fun to see all the birds out, I did get bitten by a gray that was friendly and then decided to bite me! Anyway Hello to you all in Va.
Trixie
I work in the Petsmart in Falls Church and just brought home my Quaker TODAY!! He is such a sweetie - I feel lucky and priveledged to have him become a part of our family.
Petsmart has a nice selection of toys and supplies. Super Pets in Annandale also has some lovely birds and supplies. I stopped in at American Bird Company in Falls Church to pick up some food (a seed mix to combine with the ZuPreem pellets I call Fruity Pebbles for birds) ABC is LOVELY and even had some baby Quakers. I am looking forward to seeing Featherheads. I have heard nice things about it.
Peppe
Trixie, Congrats on your new baby Qp! How old is he and have you named him yet? Mollie likes those Zupreem fruity pebbles as well. Featherheads is really cool, we loved looking at all the birds out of their cages. They have this big play table with all kinds of birds on it, but be careful most will step up then bite you!! Also they have a pair of Hyacinth Macaws that are beautiful, I felt privileged to get to see them, they were even out of their cage. No way would I ask them to step up, you should see the size of their beaks! But so beautiful I could not stop watching them. We probably spent an hour there just looking at all the different kinds of birds that I have been reading about in my Bird Talk. What is ABC , do they have lots of birds as well? Our Pets Mart only has budgies and once in awhile a cockatiel. Have fun with your new baby! Julie

I had the same experience at Lone Eagle...kinda dirty. I will say I went at the end of the day so maybe it is cleaner in the morning. Not much in the way of toys and the birds didn't seem very happy. The lady working was nice though.

Didn't much like Featherheads, I got the impression that I was bothering them when I asked for help finding something. They do have a huge selection of toys. It didn't seem well organized and was pretty dusty and dirty.

I have not tried ABC yet but I plan to go check them out one of these days.

DJ Feathers - I can't say enough good! I love, love, love Tammy's store and birds. It is always nice there, she is always friendly and I can't wait to bring home my Zazu in a few weeks. I highly recommend you check out DJ's if you are in the area. They are so fantastic. wub.gif

These are the only bird stores I know of in the area, I saw my first live Quaker in the Petsmart in Sterling. I moved here from TN, where it is illegal to have Quakers.

Trixie
Yay! I just visited DJ Feathers for the first time today! It was WONDERFUL. I bought SweetPea a boing. He is a little skeptical at the moment, but I am sure he will enjoy it. She was out of Jolly Balls, but that just gives me a reason to go back. What a wonderful place!
Peppe
I have got to get up to Tammy's new store. Trixie where did you get SweetPea? Hope that SweetPea likes his boing, Mollie loves hers. Sandra I did not realize you got Wubbie at Featherheads, I went in there once as my daughter lives in the town homes right across the street. Your are right the people were not very nice and the store did not seem too clean, but I did enjoy seeing all the birds especially the Hyacinth Macaws! Where is ABC?
Wubbie's Mom
Yes...I've got Wubbie at Feather Heads and they trick me letting me believe he was a baby and after I've got to know and love him they said he is 2 years olds...well!! too late...I loved him already!!!
American Bird Company is in Fairfax...they have a web site....is nice there...you can see the babies and is clean..but the lady will sell you unweanned babies without questioning... mad.gif

I just came from DJ's......Tammy just got the Timnehs....2 babies!!!! 1 is mine but today I couldnt pick one...I have to go back until one of them "click"..ha..ha..
The truth is...there are both soo cute!! wub.gif

Sandra
Peppe
Wow Sandra you are so lucky to be getting a Timnehs! How old are they? Did she put pics up on her web site yet? I wish I lived closer to her store to visit, Culpeper is really out in the country, but we do love it out here. Hey, we have a Pets Mart that's pretty good. Keep us posted on your new baby. Julie
Wubbie's Mom

You should go to her store!!! is great and she is sooo wonderful!!!!
New Quaker Mom
Hi,

I'm in Ashburn.

I am also getting a Quaker from Tammy at DJ's.

I really like it there. It's very clean, and they are very helpful.

I can't wait to pik up Eden next Thursday!!

I was just wondering if Wubbies Mom ever got her Timneh!?! Let us know!
RavenclawPrefect
Yes, she got her Timneh. Tango went home last week, I think. I saw Sandra the other day at Tammy's and Tango had just gone home a few days before. I got to see Tango several times and he was a sweet boy.

I am watching a Scarlet Macaw that Tammy has. She is just sooo sweet! wub.gif Tammy is baaadddd laugh.gif
Trixie
Yup - I went in 2 days in a row! And I brought SweetPea with me yesterday... I just love that place. SweetPea HAS to be an "only bird" though - I already have 2 cats and a roomfull of aquariums...

American Bird Co is in Falls Church - right on Lee Highway close to the Feline Vet Clinic and the German Gourmet. It is just gorgeous. I buy SweetPea's "treat" seed mix there.
RavenclawPrefect
I have not been to ABC yet but plan to go there. I am going into Tammy's several times a week since Savannah, the scarlet macaw baby, will be joining our family in January!

I need to bring Zazu in so he can meet his "sister" and just so he can pick out a few new toys...cause he is just toy deprived laugh.gif

I have seen Wubbie's Mom and New Quaker Mom in there this week as well.
