I think it would help boost the number of members if guests se that there is a forum on how to train birds. there are more guests than members. on at most times, so why not give them some special reasons to sign up, other than just show that this is a forum to talk about and share experiences? Why not have a forum that screams LEARN HERE I sure as hell would want to know how to train my bird.
you could do it like this
Quaker Training
-->Proven Techniques
How other members have trained their bird (No questions, just proven details)
-->Verbal
(Songs Etc...)
-->Physical
(Tricks like clucking when pecking at the ground)
-->Mental
(Tech your bird to recognize shapes etc)

The statistics at the bottom of the forum can be misleading as in most cases the majority of the number of guests being counted are search bots and not actual people. (ie Google bot)
I will wait for more feedback from member's before I comment or bring this suggestion forward to Shelly.

I'm not sure if another forum would be beneficial or not. Perhaps we could adjust the Quaker Behavioral forum to include 'Training' in the title?

I'm not opposed to adding something like that. It might be best served as Carrie suggested.
And are we wanting tricks or behavioral training or both or more than that?
If we do accomodate (SP) for such a forum, it needs to be stated (IMO) that these are just suggestions not absolutes for training. Because what works for one may not work for another.

we could put up some announcement in bold that the techniques are not proven to work with EVERY BIRD , but these are threoretical... or wahtever...... you can edit this obviously...
or an area where people can put scanned images, saying
"Train your bird X"
this would have to be approved by some type of mod to assure there is no double posting of the same topic, and to avoid spam. or, they can add the technique this person used to the page already existes like
Mike G taught his bird X by doing ETC
---X also taught their bird the same thing by doing X

Another thing to keep in mind is that Shelly has a complete content management system at the frot end of the forum which includes training ..
We could ask her if she would be willing to put up articles written by members ..
http://www.quakerparrots.com/If you check out parrot articles you will see there are training articles there.

i find it would be easier if you just put it on the forums. I, Along with my friends, would rather use a forum than look at the site itself. Thigs are very organized this way, instead of searching around for it..... However, Other people are different... Maybe you could do both?

I agree with Carrie's suggestion, I think it would fit in with the Quaker behaviour section. It would be fun to have a chat about our bird's training processes...Puffy my QP has ME trained NOT the other way around!

Lol! He steps up on our foot when he walks across the floor. he used to be like "Wtf is that? RUN AWAY" but now is is like GET ME UP THERE!"
In any manner, perhaps a sub forum under behavior?

I like this idea...I would love to teach Pickles tricks like shake, or wave with her little foot

And if someone knew how to do that and could give me suggestions on the forum that would be cool
