Shah has been making clicking sounds over the last couple of months. He makes 1 or 2 and waits for me to respond. When I respond to him by making the same number of clicking sounds, he makes another 1, 2 or 3 clicks and stretches his head and neck out - usually facing in my direction. When he finishes the clicks, he pulls his head back and waits for me to make the sounds. He is not amorous at all. Does anyone know what the behaviour means? Sorry the description isnt any better but it is kind of hard to describe.

i understand the clicking to be a friendly greeting. we do that with louie too. it's just a sound i picked up way long ago from when i had a pony. we have other clicky sounding noises too, but i have clicked at the birds since bringing them home as a way of showing them they were welcome. hope that makes sense. lol.

Dunno but it sounds like a fun game .. smile.gif

I started clicking to Kiwi a long time ago. He loves to do that. He will be a little comical about it now, but you described exactly what my Kiwi does. Sounds like your bud picked up a little game.
Dark Angel
awwww what a cool game!

Well, that just shows how smart he is. He invented the game, not me. Thanks guys.

He's just playing Simon Says. Ours does that, but with whistles, mostly. Your job is to copy what he's just done and then he'll do it again ... and again ... and again .... LOL. Clyde never, never gets tired of Simon Says.

I think it just means they are happy and also it sounds like he likes you to do it too.Like you say it's a game to him.

It's a contact call. Not a call to make contact, like a sqwak, but a call to maintain contact with their closes buddies. It says "I'm right here. Everything's cool. Is everything cool with you?"

Pepper does it too, but her means she wants me to show her some love by scratching her head. She does it usually right before bed. It's like she is asking for a kiss goodnight. I do it to her when I want to pet her.

Shah also does this whistling thing when we go to bed - he is usually in his bed before me so when it is my time to go to bed, he whistles softly - I return the whistle and it goes on for ages. Then he moves on to the kissing sounds which also need to be returned. It takes us anywhere from 5 mins to 15 mins to finally settle down. But the sounds he makes are really soft and I love hearing them. I really cant imagine what my life would be like without him. Every day he amazes me and I am so glad he picked me as his slave.

Corey makes the clicking sound too, but she started doing it after she spent sometime with me in the computer room. She learnt clicking from the computer mouse - which she at one point became very posessive over. She would do anything to get to it, and during mating season she would try to get it to mate her.
