maybe others might have an insight into this thing my QP has started doing. He used to sleep on his highest perch, located at the top of the cage. Every night for almost a year. About a month ago he started sleeping in a new place --lower down in the cage, on the edge of his food dish, near the side of the cage. He stays there for a while, and poops on his pellets. He is happy, healthy, eating, etc. Just very strange! I was thinking of adding a small perch near his dish so that he might use it and not potty in his food. Any other suggestions? Thanks,

Has he been DNA'd? "He" might be looking for a place to lay eggs.

My quaker from time to time decides to change his favorite perch. I just bought a new food dish for his cage actually and he seems to now like it a little too much too. Mine doesnt poop in his food tho but I think its the design of the dish its a detatchable type.

Do you use different size and types of perches in your cage? Maybe try a perch near his food dish and see if that helps.

good luck

You may also want to check and see if there is a draft at the level of the night time perch, Sometimes that can cause them to move as well.

I agree, Check for a draft and Andies Mom also told me to try a light by Kirby once b4 and it totally perked him up. Try to place a low watt bulb two three feet away from him, may help him get out of his funk, scare, or whatever may be buggin him. Good luck from tx.
