ok I was looking around at cages and saw this one I think it is a good size

So what do you think?
kalipso2
i like how the cage is wider than it is taller but you have to be careful if you plan on opening the top... if the bird is on top and the perch slips you run the risk of hurting your bird.
kate
I would keep looking. That fancy scrolling is a good place for toes to get wedged in where each scroll forms a V shape. I wouldnt have one that doesnt have a seed guard on it. Saves a lot of mess. And im not fond of cages that open on the top. Sorry, but i wouldnt buy it at half that price. Flat tops or play tops are what i like.

How about these!

1st one

2nd one

3rd one XD <=============== just kidding, I wish!

4th one

thes are more I like. What do you think out of these are the best?
Majj
Number 4 is the best option IMO....plenty of room and the bars look stronger , good price...I like black or Dark colours you tend to be able to see the bird better .. smile.gif

You could always sit a table top play stand on the top too or just cover with newspaper or a tray and use it for a play area...

I agree with Majj... I definitely life number 4! Lotsa room for toys and flights and looks nice and sturdy too!!!
Quakerperson
ok I will talk to my mom! I do have enough money now!!!

OUt of these i like the fourth best too. But still it has no seed guards. But that could be just a preference of mine. The bowls are plastic instead of SS but you could change that if you want. The doors dont swing out on them to feed , but still that is just a matter of convenience. I find that i am partial to the platinum or the sand colored ones though. I have black and dark grey and white . But i prefer the other colors.

Don`t forget , add different perches I don`t even use the dowel perches that came with my cages I have natural wood ones the boys love to pick at the bark (wash/scrub with diluted mixture of water and bleach or vinager leave in the sun to dry) rope perches or boings are loved by all fids and can hang from top of cage down making easy access to the bottom , I use a whole newspaper to line the bottom as its easier for the boys to walk on , roll up a sheet at a time when needed its easy ..I also add a toy box on the bottom with lots of goodies they can dig through and throw out smile.gif and Quakers love to nest of a night to sleep as in the wild they do have nests to sleep in so add some sort of hut to sleep up high with a perch running along so enty can be made in and out easily..
I am exited for you I love setting up new cages (or love to re arrange my boys with new branches and stuff every now and then) and yes you can buy S.S coups for feeding instead of the plastic thats easily fixed and not too expensive..
Congratulations .. don`t forget to share a piccy when your done... BEST of LUCK... smile.gif
I never use the little doors for feeding my feed dishes are not even where the little doors are so I don`t think thats a problem ..

My mom has a problem with cage #4 she says that it is to big for my room and when I get out of the house I will have a hard time getting it into a dorm room.

So any of you have a sugestion that would be a good price, alittle smaller then #4, one that would be good for a Quaker, and one that you would let your bird live in.

thanks

If you can afford it this is a nice cage and only 26 by 22" and 1/2" bar spacing.

Cage

Good size for a QP. Its an HQ cage which are excellent quality. i have orderd from Queencity pets before. Very quick shipping!

I have # 4 for My green cheek. It is a very nice cage but quite large. The one i linked has seed gaurds and stainless food cups that swing open, very nice features to have.

Majj
That is a nice cage John I agree ...But I have seen warnings about the opening top so if you get that one I would not use the open top section just add a tray or something for you Q.P to walk on the top area and play without opening it....
Good Luck ..

I have the dome top version of this cage and let me tell you...the bottom of it does not catch everything and it is a MESS on the floor every day! I would look for one with the skirt things at the bottom. This one is not a good quality either.

I don't know if you have bought your cage, but don't buy #2. It is too small. We had our 2 lovies in that cage and had to up grade. Our 6 week old Quaker is in it now, but s/he is quickly outgrowing it. When you look for a cage, look for one with good door latches. A lot of cage - even ones for smaller birds - do not have adequate latches.

These cages may suit your needs
Cage #1 (I found this cage locally for about $30 less)

Cage #2

Side note: you need to check with what school you are going to as to what pets they allow and how much room you will actually have. Some college are more strict than others. The college my brother-in-law is going to will allow fish and other tank non-noise making creatures, but that is about it. So he is getting a condo with 2 friends so that he can bring his dog with him. Keep in mind what you neighbors and roommate do will affect your birds. So no scented candles, glade plug in cigarette smoke, etc. Unless you know that your roommate is willing to comply and the college you will be attending will allow the bird, I would look for a cage that will make your family happy too.
Majj
Stephanie I like cage No. 1 that you posted No. 2 is a bit small IMO..both nice looking cages though... smile.gif

This cage seems good for the same price. You can find it a little cheaper other places, but it is real wide so i think its a great cage.
Majj
I Like this one Mommy4syd just posted she is getting as long as you don`t open the top as a few birds have been seriously injured when the perch came loose ( so I have read)...Plenty of room seed catchers and a reasonable price IMO...
