Hello! I have a pallid blue quaker named Skylar not sure if it is male or female and he/ or she is 11 months old. Skylar just recently started this week mating with his happy hut! Skylar also has been spending time in the happy hut during the day. What can i do to discourage this behavior and how long does it last. Although it is kinda cute the little noises he or she makes I still don't want to encourage it. I have to add this he/ or she is so funny Skylar will make kissing sounds to me and whistle for me to come here. Like I am his lady and he is trying to court me closer. Skylar is quite a charachter I must add.

thanks,

Brandy and Skylar

What's a happy hut?

I don't know how to stop mating behavior. Mine does it, too, and makes these little ch-ch-ch sounds while he's doing it and then sticks his foot out wanting me to put my hand up there and altogether it's like watching a pole dance, but he doesn't seem to be hurting anything, so ... cool.gif

Basically the only thing you can do to discourage it, is to remove the happy hut. I usually don't have a problem with birds exhibiting mating behavior with toys/objects, so long as it isn't me or another person. wink.gif

That must be one happy hut!
