Boris has started clicking his beak just wondering if that annoying sound/behaviour has a reason behind it or not HA HA.

Have a blessed weekend!

if it sounds more like beak grinding that means your quaker is very relaxed and content. cricket grinds his beak when he's ready for bed, after he's had a good meal or after bath time.

It's probably beak grinding as Kris said, and that's a good thing. It may be annoying to you but its a sign they are happy and content.

aww beak grinding is music to my ears. means my babies are happy and all is well in their world.

beak grinding sounds how you would think it would based on the name. clicking is something different, usually also a good thing but a different meaning.

It sounds like a clicking noise not a grinding sound. What does the clicking mean? Oh he is keeping me busy trying to figure out all his little clues to things. He has totally and completely stollen our hearts. He is so spoiled already. He was home all day saturday while I was in a college class and he finally played with his toy in the cage he shreaded the paper on it. Oh and other progress also Ive been using a clicker and have gotten him to touch and actually climb his ladder. Whoooo hooo

Good job with the clicker training! biggrin.gif It sounds like he is settling in nicely! wub.gif

Clicking could be a couple things, it could be an imitation of something (i.e. the clicker) Casey makes a clicking sound that sounds like a noise I make with my tongue... or she clicks when she is trying to make out with my hand (which we discourage). blush.gif Those are the only two things I can think of... when does he do it? With you, in the cage etc.?

He does it when he is with me. Usually he does this when he gets time on my shoulder.(they are just like little kids) laugh.gif

Rats do the same sort of thing; for them it is called bruxing, and it is them grinding their front teeth together. Love those sounds, just like purring! Nothing makes me happier than knowning my babies are happy biggrin.gif

Pepper grinds her beak right before bed or naptime. She makes clicking sounds when she wants to me scratch the back of her head.

Oh Yay! SweetPea grinds his beak in the evening. I was starting to worry that it was a nervous thing, but he didn't look nervous. I am delighted to read that it is a sign of contentment! Yay!
