and on Monday I am adopting this little fellow (my first QP ever!)
He is 5 months old.

I am a totally new quaker parot owner, but I have always wanted a parrot. I saw the ad for this little guy and I think I could give him a really loving home. Any tips for a newbie??

Thanks a lot everyone! I can't wait to get to know everyone and their fids!

Welcome! This great group of people will help you all they can and that's a lot because they are very knowledgable about birds.
My favorite tip is if you have any doubt at all about feeding certain foods, DON'T. until after you have checked the DO and DON'T lists (they are locatedon here somewhere...someone can tell you where)

Be very patient with the new bird. He will be in a strange place with strangers and be very scared at first. Speak quietly and sweetly to him and give him a few weeks to learn that you are NOT the guys from Ky Fried Chicken....as in Colonel Sanders.

More of these nice people will be along to welcome you and give you their tips as well. We love pictures and will be waiting to see all your critters.

Hola and welcome to the forum. My husband and I are thinking about moving to Mexico ( he is originally from there) in about 2 years. I won't agree completely till I find out about taking my birdies across. My sister in law says no problem but until someone officially tells me that, we will see because I am not leaving them behind, no way...

Hola Cassie y recepción al grupo!!!

I guess you do have quite a zoo there!! Of course, we'll be wanting to see pictures of all of them. smile.gif

As equineRtist mentioned, just give the new family member some time to get used to his new home and the next thing you know, he'll be keeping you constantly amazed (You'll see what I mean. biggrin.gif ).
