My name is Hollie, and I live in the sunny ole UK. Three weeks ago, I came across my first QP, a six year old little chap named Eddie. He is my first "little" bird. Today I have been cleaning cages with him hanging off the back of my hair. He is very easy going, but I am now finding he is very nippy when other people try to remove him from me. Is over bonding a trait in QPs? Otherwise he is a little bundle of joy and laughter, very entertaining, and much easier to have swinging from your hair during chores than a macaw. Eddie is really fascinating, and I look forward to speaking to other QP owned bys.

Welcome to the bondage of Quakers ! tongue.gif He sounds wonderful. And yes, they do tend to bond to one person UNless you work with him. If you let everyone work with him, he'll be fine.

Hi Hollie and welcome!

Congrats on getting your first QP! (or do you work in a pet store? Your post was a little unclear...)

Sorry I canīt answer your questions, but someone will be along soon who can!

Apologies, I should have been clearer!Im an area coordinator for a parrot rescue, we picked up Eddie three weeks ago. We have at the moment, two macaws and five cockatoos also, although due to seperation I am moving to a smaller house and not all the birds can come. But thats another story!I have a three year old daughter, and he sits and eats breakfast with her in the morning. Initially when he came he showed a preference for my ex partner, but this has now changed to me.

I finally got to meet CQ and Britta this february! CQ if you read this I am no longer a too lady!!!Well I am, but I am discovering the fun of the small birds too!My Casey is a mutilating Goffin, who has been through so many ups and downs since she came nearly a year ago. Unfortunatly she is one of the birds that is going to have to go to a new home as my new situation doesnt allow the time I had before. I am doing quite well at ignoring this situation til it actually happens... huh.gif Is your casey the little green quaker? Eddie is blue. Is it normal for quakers to do this bobbing of the head? He also seems to "pant" alot, with his tongue sticking out. God do I feel silly asking questions like this! laugh.gif

Your Casey is really cute, even if she is a little naked! wub.gif Sorry you have to rehome some of them. sad.gif

That's cool that you got to meet CQ! biggrin.gif

Yep, Casey is our little green Q! wub.gif The only time Casey really bobs her head is when she is trying to regurgitate for me... which we try to discourage. The only time she "pants" (kind of sticks her tongue out a bit) is when she is having some "alone time" with her boing. wink.gif blush.gif I'm not sure what else he could be doing? Does he do it when he's with you or with a toy or ?
Don't feel silly, feel free to ask any questions you wish, that's what we're all here for! smile.gif

He does the bobbing when he is sat on someones shoulder. The nearest thing to describe it is it looks as if he is dancing, but I dont think he is. Maybe he is just one excited little quaker! He doesnt do it continuosly. The mouth open with his tongue sticking out happens most when he is having a really good tickle. Its not regurgitating, it almost looks like a yawn.
