Alright, so, here's Timber! We had a choice between a caique and a senegal, but when I first went to see him, I was told that he does NOT like men. Well, my husband came with me, and Timber stepped right up for him, so we sort of knew this was the one for us. He's not very active just yet, but he's still really scared. He's also been biting like crazy, though this is getting better. Now he really only does it when we try to put him back in his cage. He and Elwood have been calling back and forth, and they both seem really interested in what's going on. I feel really bad for Timber, because he's used to 13 other birds around, and now he's being quarantined with me in my office. I can't wait until I can put him upstairs where he's got another bird around.

He is SO full of pins, but he doesn't like baths or letting us try to preen him. I've been able to get a few, but I just can't imagine how uncomfortable he feels. He's also on a sort of weird diet, which I'm assuming was causing his beak to be overgrown. His owner trimmed it before he came home with us. Oh man, I could go on and on. So let's just cut to the chase:

I'm not a big fan of his cage. I might try to get another one sometime later. It has too many funky designs in it, and I just know he'll get a toe caught. It was FILTHY when I got it home.

It's sort of funny: with all this "how birds smell" talk, I've been thinking; I don't really like his smell very much. However, I have been spoiled all this time with the quaker smell, so.... tongue.gif

Oh, he is a doll smile.gif Looks like he needs a shower, so the smell might not be natural to him. I agree on the cage issue, I don't like those either. What kind of diet is he on?
As to the other issue, call me and we can talk about why it is going on and how to maybe stop it. How is Elwoods screaming, is it at 15 minuts or less? smile.gif

He is on a mixed diet. It looks like a mix I've seen made by Kaytee that says "parrot mix." It's all seed, a few funny shaped pellets here and there, dried fruits, some nuts....but a lot of seed.

Now Elwood's screaming is worse. rolleyes.gif I knew it would be. He screams at the new bird, and at the fact that I'm not with him. He's getting jealous already....It's sort of an "awwww..." but also a "oh crud" kind of issue.

Also, I think Timber was trying to regurgitate for me earlier. I distracted him as best I could, and nothing came out. I'm not entirely sure as I've never seen it happen before, but it seemed that's what was going on. Again, "awww.." but "oh crud."

You're going to love your little Timber, once he gets settled in you'll see just how cuddley and silly these guys are. I love my little Simon, he's also a black headed Caique.

Thanks everyone! Little sidenote: I've been so concerned that we'd be so obsessed with the new bird and that Elwood would sort of be left out. Adding Timber has only made me appreciate the bond that I already have with Elwood all the more.

Also, yeah, he REALLY needs a bath - I was holding him today at half and arm's length and I could smell him without a problem. We tried to see if he wanted to take a bath, but he wanted nothing of it. We won't give up! He also needs to see a vet soon. I'm beginning to wonder if he has some sort of upper respiratory infection. Sometimes when he breathes it just doesn't sound clear. It's not a noise he's making vocally, it's just different. Also, my husband said that Timber sneezed on him and it was a little wet.

Side-note: The woman that we got him from said that Timber does NOT like men. Well, he's bonding better to my husband than he is to me. Haha!
