Well Nareius (Nair-RE-is) is my newest addition to my home, and is my second half of my graduation present. She is in fact a baby sugar glider.
I've done tons of reading on them over a matter of yrs believe it or not, I've wanted one since I was way young. Anywho she was just recently weaned and is munching away on an apple as we speak. Today was her first day and of course I got bit. I had to get her into a pouch from the big ol box they gave us. So she went nuts, crabbing, hissing and just being a brat * as I expected * and she ran around for a bit and finally hopped on me by mistake and i cupped her up next to my thigh and she nailed me with what I guess I can call a nip. Felt like a hamster bite. She's doing well now that she's up, roaming the cage and eating, she actually came on my hand and everything, i can pet her in the cage without any crabbing.
I've joined a glider forum but they are pretty mean, snippy, and snotty to other members... maybe its how I'm reading it but I don't think its me. I've grow to just LOVE this forum because everyone here is just NICE and KINDLY offers opinions and advice.
Anywho, I'd like to know if anyone had one of these oh so exotic marsupials as pets?

I've never had one as a pet, but I worked at a store that bred them. We had 10 breeding pairs. Really watch to make sure that she is eating well over the next week or so. We got to the point where we would not sell them singly to anyone because customers would have a lot of problems getting them to eat due to stress of being alone and in a new place. They can go down very quickly from just skipping a meal when they are so small. I wish you luck with your little friend - If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help!

Congrats on your new addition... and congrats on your graduation, how exciting!

I don't know anything about sugar gliders, except that they are really cute

... so I'm looking forward to some pictures!

I know a few people here have them, off the top of my head I can think of
Paula0442 , you might want to PM her as I believe she has a bunch and is also part of a glider forum so she'd probably be able to help you out with all your questions!

Congratulations!!!

Oh great! at least there are people on here that have had them/know of them. Well nip two just happened while she was sniffing me >_< she's eating up her apples and melons right now. So it doesnt seem feeding might be an issue, at least now it doesnt seem to be an issue. Thanks again for all the help, pics will be up soon, i hope... lol

Congrats on the new pet, I don't have a sugar glider but Andie did for a while. I didn't care for the one she had's personality...Very bitie and crabby as you say. But I'm glad you did your home work on it as well before you brought it home.
And I agree with you...very few forums are as friendly and willing to help a newbie out as QP.com.
I know others have sugar gliders here so just keep asking. Someone will be along to help you I'm sure!

Yeah diffinately. Just crabbed me out not too long ago. Whats worrying me a little bit is when she goes potty she makes is hissy sound as if she were constapated or something. I'm going to call the shop tomorrow. She was a big investment and shouldn't have to worry about health issues... The poo is watery, i assumed it was just from stress of the new home, traveling, and just all the NEW. I'll have to see tomorrow...

I have one named GIZMO. You are less likely to get bitten if you wont pick him up and just let him jump onto you. The flaps of skin between their front legs and hind legs that they use to glide seems to be a little sensitive....as you could well imagine.
Congrats on your glider. I hope you enjoy yours as much as we enjoy ours.

I had Gliders a few years ago, unfortunately they have since passed away. They are great little pets. Congratulations on your's. I'm pretty sure I can guess which forum you are talking about from your description of it. If there is anything I can help you with don't hesitate to let me know!

Your Lucky down under they are a native and not sold , I gues if you have a wild life licence you could have them ....Congratulations on your new critter .. I get to feed a couple of wild ones with the local possums that visit for the birds left overs each night..

I think they are cute but have never owned one. There are people on the forum that own them so maybe one or two or three will step up and answer your questions
