Both my remaining Rattie boys have passed on to Rainbowbridge ..They have for some time both been on meds for respritary problems , they no sooner finished the meds and with in a month start to loose weight again and the laboured breathing it has just been too much and too sad to watch their decline I made the choice to put both boys to sleep together , Billy & Ashely passed with the same problems one after the other and in the end they wern`t even responding to the meds and it was pitiful and I feel it was wrong of me to let them linger on and on dieing slowly at home , I was determind not to let Benny and Coco drag on the same way..
I have decided not to get any more animals (of any type) I can`t take the heartache of loosing them , my only critters left now are my 2 birds , Buddy and Sunny and my daughters dog Zeus who is also getting older turning 12 this year... Its hard to let go of any family critter , they are my babies...

I hope everyone and their critters are happy and having no problems with health ..

Oh Majj, I am so sorry. I know how it feels to lose a family critter. I'm quite sure we all do. I have decided that what we have now will be our last because they will most likely outlive us and I worry so about what will happen to them.
Wish I could do something to help ease your pain.

I so understand your situation! I have had 5 ratties, one of which was the best little guy ever! But they don't have the longest life spans, and after losing one to cancer, another suddenly, and the last to old age, after the two that I still have pass, no more short lived pets for me. The heartache, as you said, is just too much. Thank goodness cats and quakers live longer lives!!
