Quaker Parrots Forum > Welcome! > Introductions
Rosie
Hello to all!

Just posting a quick introduction, as i'm new to the Qp forums, and new to Quaker-Mamahood!

My name is Rosie, and we brought our Quaker home yesterday. I didn't know I was looking for a Quaker yesterday when we set off; however I'd finally gotten the green light from the landlord that we were allowed to keep a bird, so off we set to find our new baby. I'd kept birds in the past - budgies and cockatiels (who now live with my mother - as i'd owned them while still living with her, she had said she couldn't bear to part with me and the beautiful birdies when i left some years ago).

As I said, I didn't know I was looking for a quaker, heck I didn't know what a quaker looked like - but when I saw him it was love at first sight! My new feather-baby is a blue Quaker, 4 months old, and hasn't yet been sexed (I'm calling him a 'he', but of course we don't know for certain); and seeing as we only brought him home yesterday, we as yet haven't named him!

As a side note, I also have a 2 month old (human!) baby girl - the love of my life. So I'm taking care of these 2 babies, the timing to get my bird seemed right as I'm off work on Maternity leave until September; so everyone gets the attention they deserve!

Phew - that wasn't as quick an introduction as I thought it would be! Thanks for reading, and I'm looking forward to seeing all you wonderful Quaker parents around the forums!

Hi Rosie, Welcome to the forum!!!

Congratulations on your new two new babies, human and QP. smile.gif

Just a little word of caution: Be careful not to get your QP used to more time and attention than he'll get after you go back to work or you'll have problems with the change.

I look forward to stories and pictures of both babies.

Hi Rosie, Welcome

I would love to see your new babies. Do you have pictures?
qpdad has a very good point. If you spend more time with them when there are new or your hours at home change thay tend to have a hard time with it and think thay did something wrong. I'm sure you have your hands full with two babies in the house. Enjoy your time at home i'm sure it will pass quickly. I know you will love this forum it's really a great place to learn about qp's and make good friends.
