Full Version: Dark Course Spot Of Hair On My Schnoodle...

Jamie
I have my dog at the office with me today and I noticed something a bit odd. She has a spot of fur by her tail that is significantly darker than the rest of her and it is course instead of soft like the rest of her fur. I just noticed it a few days ago when we were walking but I assumed she had just licked that area of fur or gotten it wet outside on our walk or that she had fuzzed her fur up in that area so it looked funny. I really didn't think much about it.

When I saw it again today and checked it out it was dark and course instead of grey and soft like the rest of her. Googling says it might be ringworm? Any dog owners have an idea???

We were just at the vet last week and he didn't note anything odd then. Am I worrying about nothing?

I doubt that its ringworm Jamie, Ringworm usually shows up pinkish red on the skin, if I remember correctly.

She's schnauzer and poodle right? Could it be just some of the coarser hair of the schnauzer finally showing through?

If it were me, I'd watch it for a while, especially since you just had her in for a check up. Pay attention to whether she chews or scratches that are more now, And watch it to change sizes etc.

But if it makes you feel better just take her back to the vet and have them take a look.
