sad.gif DOES ANYONE KNOW IF QUAKERS OR ANY KIND OF BIRD, CATCH DIFFERENT SICKNESS THAT US HUMANS GET? I HAVE STREP THROAT RIGHT ON, PLUS THRUSH, CAN MY BABY CATCH THIS? MY DOCTOR SAYS NOT UNLESS I KISS THEM, WELL MY BABY LOVES TO GIVE ME KISSES. TOOSTIE STOP THE BITING, BUT TURNED AROUND YESTERDAY AND DID IT AGAIN, BUT SO FAR AS NOT TODAY, SHE DIDN'T LIKE WHAT I WAS HAVING FOR SUPPER, LAST NIGHT, LOL.

Nope, I don't think strep is transmittable to birds... just make sure you wash your hands before you handle him/change food and water.

I'm not sure about the Thrush though, if I'm not mistaken it's a yeast infection of the mouth, right? Birds can get yeast infections so I'm not 100% sure about that? unsure.gif Hopefully some others know for sure.

I hope you feel better soon! Strep is definitely no fun! sad.gif Hugs!

EDIT: I just googled it and found this, birds can get it and it's transmittable from birds to humans with close contact. You may want to contact your vet and ask them to be sure.

THANK YOU FOR GETTING BACK TO ME, STILL FEEL ROUGH, BUT NOT AS BAD AS YESTERDAY, MEDICINE MUST BE WORKING NOW. I HAVE NOT BEE N ABLE TO GET THE VET YET, HAVE TO WAIT TILL TOMORROW (MONDAY) I GOT THE THRUSH FROM MY INHALER THEY PUT ME ON, WHERE STREP CAME FROM I DON'T KNOW. AFTER I GOT DIFFERENT MAIL, I REMEMBER THEY CAN GET YEAST INFECTION. MY BABY HAD ONE WHEN SHE WAS A BABY. SO I GUESS I WILL BE TAKING HER TO THE VET, JUST TO BE SURE. IT IS SO SAD, SHE WANTS TO GIVE KISSES AND I JUST TURN MY HEAD. dry.gif SORRY TO HEAR YOU HAD TO DEAL WITH THE THRUSH. THANK YOU FOR YOUR WELL WISHES, SOON AS I FIND OUT ABOUT THE STREP AND THRUSH FOR SURE, I WILL LET YOU AND EVERYBODY ELSE KNOW. THANKS AGAIN

Strep throat can be very dangerous, so I'm glad you have been to a doctor and are on medication for it. It's quite contagious between humans (not bird to human or vice versa though), so you could of picked it up anywhere.

Until every thing clears up, I'd make sure to wash very well with anti-bacterial soap before handling your bird and no swapping spit wink.gif
