Nancy and Bubba
Thank you everyone rolleyes.gif I know our FIDs look so much alike and it's just a proud mom that thinks her is the handsomest, and I do believe they are all beautiful.
I had a scare with my little guy yesterday - so just a word of wisdom here. I guess I came out of a room too fast and walked by Bubba's cage to fast because he fell off and fluttered to the floor. I saw him and knew he had not hit the floor too hard so when I picked him up I was surprised to see he was shaking, his mouth open and when I put my hand across his back, I could actually feel his heart beating. He looked dazed so I ran to get my husband and Bubba just sat in my hand, shaking and mouth open. His beak looked ok and I held him close to give him some warmth, he balled his foot up and slipped off my finger. I laid him on the bed and he fell over - well I panicked ohmy.gif I picked him up and held him to my chest talking very low and calm because he just acted like he was scared. He slowly stopped shaking, his mouth closed and I could no longer feel his heart beat thru his back. I put him back on the bed and he looked at me like what happened? I think I scared him so bad when I went by his cage and that was the problem because he was fine within a few minutes and has been all day today. I NEVER will go by his cage like that again - although I walk by it all the time, I guess I just startled him. I did not know that they could have that type of reaction - I thought I had lost him and it was all my fault. I would NEVER forgive myself, NEVER - so just a word to the wise. I'm just grateful he is ok. mellow.gif

Nancy, that is usually a sign of a light stroke. The fluttering to the floor, the imbalance, the foot balling up. I have had that happen twice and both times were with mine eating some people food that evidently set it off (that's what my vet said later and YES they had had some people food of some sort) Of course a scare might cause a stress level that could cause a stroke as well.
I turned on a lamp and held mine right up close to me chest almost under the lamp shade and they recovered in just a few minutes. That's a scare and a half!!!!
I simply don't give mine anthing but some broccoli, carrots, pellets and a few seeds. Mine never did react to the foods when they were younger. That happened in the last 6 months. they are about 10 years old.
Best wishes that it doesn't happen again. Mine have been fine since then.I used to raise finches and now and then would have a sick bird. The lamp is the first thing I grab and that little bit of heat has never failed me yet.
Hope Bubba will be OK now wub.gif

Well Weeza, you now have scared me to death about this. I hope it wasn't a stroke, he has been fine since then. Is there anything I should be watching for? He wasn't eating anything when this happened, just playing and I think I scared him. Could this lead to permanent damage? Bubba is 8 years old and now I'm very worried. mellow.gif

Beautiful piccys...Sounds like he just got a shock , Sunny had a fright once and flew into the wall.. (a couple of years ago).. and both feet balled up and he just panted , I rang the vet and he said to keep him quite and warm , I held him for a good hour till he relaxed then I put a lamp near his bed and just let him rest he was fine the next day..Shock can kill , after a fright they need to be kept warm and quite...Its scary when you se your little one hurt...I am sure he will be fine...(HUGS to you both)
