Hello everyone!

EMERGENCY!!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

I live in Empuriabrava in Spain, and today my dog found a large bird (a hawk, I think) in the grass near the beach. It has been there all day and I think it may be injured. I cannot accommodate the bird in the boat where I live and I would like to find an organization or person who may be able to help the bird. HAving 2 QPs I am also very reluctant to try to accomodate it as Hawks tend to see QPs as food (it is at least 40cm long and brown colored, and definately a bird of prey).

In England there is an organization called the society for the protection of birds. Is there such a thing in Spain?

PLEASE can anyone help? I donīt want this beautiful bird to die!

Email me at belowareptile@gmail.com if you can help me find someone who can help!

Thankyou

EDIT:
For those of you who have already read about my strange luck, here is a really weird bit of info:
The hawk (if that is what it is) is in EXACTLY the same spot where my dog found little Pita, weird huh?

Can you contact the city where you are at like their city hall or nearest police station, they may be able to give you the number of wildlife help.

Thankyou for your reply!

The Spanish authorities (and people) are notoriously apathetic towards (wild) animals.
Also the working hours of government and council branches are very strict and very CLOSED right now. The police are incredibly lax, last week my neighbours and I all called the police as a german woman was screaming blue murder from an apartment window - I was sure someone had died. The police arrived 3 and a half hours later.

I hope someone can help me get in touch with someone in my region directly.

Another important detail:
The place where I live (while in Spain) fall under the principality of CATALUNYA.
I hope that helps someone help me help the bird...

Contact these people http://www.ifaw.org/ifaw/general/default.aspx They just helped to clean up an oil spill in Spain and take care of those animals... maybe they can help you.

Loki,

Do you have any zoos in Spain? Contact one of these, they should have staff who know how to care for healthy, and injured/sick animals.

Also google 'wildlife rehabilitator' in your area. You may also search for 'falconry' to make contacts with knowlegable people. Call veterinarieans and they may be able to give you some information.

Thanks guys!

The local wildlife rescue group went to the location the very next morning. Unfortunately the bird was gone when they got there. I hope the big bird made it!

PS: LuvMyHarley1, I am a HE, not a SHE. LOL
