I am 22..
I am mummy to a 2 year old daughter milly and a son Leo who is flying with the angels.I am also mummy to a 3 year old red merle collie called roofus and a 3 year old seal point siamese cat called dandan! I also have a cockatiel who my daughter chose at xmas who is handtame but still isnt a human fan at all lol!! and detestes his baths!! I have also aquired my newest member (until tomorrow) my 16 week old rottweiler puppy lady-brown!! (aquired her10weeks ago she can roll over!!(had 2 get that in as im sooo proud of her haha) Tomorrow I go to get my Oatis! Feels like i have waited forever but finally he can come home! weaning is still an issue as he isnt totally weaned but the end of the process is no left to me!
I shall let everybody know how things go tomorrow!! I shall get back with him around 8pm so i definatly wont be online until he is settled and happy
incase ur wondering, so young yet so many pets?? its because i think animals are waaay better than humans! I really do prefer animals to people lol however animal lovers will always become friends of mine as we have the best thing eva in common hehe!!

Welcome Kirsty! I'm new here, too! But the members here are more than helpful! I envy you that you get Oatis tomorrow! I have to wait about 6 wks to get my Seamus ! You've been through a lot in your short life and it's so easy to have animals to cry to, vent to, and accept you, no matter what! Hope to hear more about Oatis and see some pics!

Welcome to the flock Kirsty!!!! We got our baby qp the end of april and found everyone here to be sooo full of great info! If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask and we'll definitely need pics ot Oatis once the lil baby gets home! Good luck!

Oooooooooh myyyyyy! Am i excited??? YES YES YES!! hehe!!
I unfortunatly had to rehome my grey 2 months ago as he became extremely jealous of my daughter and actually started to attack her :/ He was sooo capable of removing her finger so he had to goooo his new owners love him and hes enjoying lots of cuddle time with them though which is reassuring!!
Soooo happy to be getting Oatis! Finally have the familiar parrot sounds around the home! How empty is a home without a parrot to liven things up hehe!!
Anyways off for my bath & then train!!

Oatis is finally home!!
he slept on the train nuzzled into my chest! however had to go back in his cage as he decided to start playing games with my necklace and getting over excited! Had images of my gorgeous baby flying out of open windows!!
He is what i expected and more and boy does he like kisses! He is meeting my cockatiel on the cage playtop as we speak!! However my curious cockatiel is getting nowhere as my quaker is more interested in how he gets back to me on the sofa haha!!
My 2year old is petrified of him but i am sure she will come round!
Anyone in the uk i do recommend www.dentonparrots.co.uk for your hand reared parrots! My Oatis is a confident and very well turned out individual!!
He is 7weeks tomorrow so i am finishing the weaning (which was at my request,not the breeders)

thankgod i am not the only uk quaker fan haha! everyone thinks i am mad and i am sick of hearing "thats not a parrot" grrrr!! He is the best looking parrot and the most loving fid in the world!!

awe, oatis is the perfect name for a quaker. it sounds like he'll be very loved!!

quaker oats/oatis haha makes sense really loool i do think he looks like a horriss though! leave that for my next one! yes my NEXT one!! i do intend on getting more!
He isnt half trying to be boss at the moment though and pushing his luck but i am being as stern as i can and hopefully i sharnt get too much trouble from him!
he's already a big part of the family and has won everyone round! except my daughter who is scared stiff! she likes him but wont allow him near her! time should change this!

Just a suggestion with your daughter ..... Make her the caretaker of "Oatis" ..... especially at the QP's current age!
With your encouragement for your daughter and the close supervision of the the baby QP's behavior, I think Oatis will quickly bond with your daughter!!!!! IMHO!
If Oatis shows any sign of biting her and not stepping up on her finger... then, "NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!" (A classic Sienfeld episode..... !!!) Everyone tells me that parrots catch on REALLY FAST when their food is removed because of an "unacceptable" behavior! NOT STEPPING UP and BITING THE HAND THAT FEEDS HIM!!!

Welcome! I can't wait to see pictures of your new baby! It sounds like Oatis has found himself a loving home.

It was either name him green (my daughters idea) or oatis hehe!!
He is attempting to talk!! mad i know!! hes been making weird noises for days with his back to us then today i said hello and he soooo tried to say it back! it wasnt spot on but me and my fella both said "did you hear that" and if i say to him time out he gets real angry haha! but no matter how much time out he gets he still eats my curtains the sod!! and is practicing upside downys on the end of the curtain pole lol got a sunlite playstand coming though so that should be fab!! as hes really starting to play now! constantly flys on my partners head! hes definatly more for him the git!! even if i cuddle my partner he flys onto his head lol hes such a charactor! my daughter is coming round to him more so it shouldnt be too long before their best friends! we're getting nowhere with the harness he really hates it!! thinking of trying a flight suit? anyone had success with these?
