I have had my quaker bird since he was 3 months old.. I talk to him all the time, i greet him and even sometimes sing too him...my problem is i never here him say anything. i say the basic words, like i love you, whats u doing, good morning and good night, ect.. what happen today i was in shock...

i have my bedroom with my two cages,, one for my quaker and one for my cherry head.. they go back and forth all day long. and when have them both out its funny they chat back and forth to see who is the louded.... too make a long story short.......today he went back into his cage and went into his bedroom and he was talking away, he sounded like a hole different bird but it was my qp talking behind his toy.. he was at it for aleast 20 min then he came out and stood on his stand, quite and all fluffed up.. is it normal for the gp to be a closet talker?? sorry so long of a thread...

Georgie talks to herself when she goes to bed. It cracks me up. I honestly think she talks herself to sleep.

quakers have such infividual personalities its not uncommon to see them be the most out spoken talkers or closet talkers or never talk at all.. your qp is quite normal

Trigger will talk really quietly. Almost a mumble
You have to listen really carefully and he will repeat a lot of last words of your sentences.
He does say pretty bird and up-up a lot, very loud!

Yep, it sounds normal! Some Quakers are closet talkers and prefer not to share their voice with others!

Shamrock also talks himself to sleep, every night he talks for at least 30 minutes
after I cover his cage.

Joey did this at first. He will not talk for my husband. If my husband walks in the room Joey shuts up and just lips the words. I bought a baby monitor and put it in the room, when Joey is in his room I turn it on while he is talking this way my husband can enjoy listening to him talk to,

Shah will not talk in front of other people either. He talks to me all the time but if there are other people in the room, he tends to be quiet. Occasionally he might say hello to them or call them monkey breath or monkey butt (his words not mine) if they are ignoring him but that's it.

Oh that's perectly normal behaviour, Tiki does the same, but he does also talk around just me and my husband... never my friends though, they think we are only imagining it.

I have been told that birds often do that because they are affraid to draw attention to themselves. Quackers would talk up a storm when we would go somewhere if he was covered. But when the cover came off he would stop.
