Casey has a few different manzanita perches (a couple regular branches and a completely flat one that gives her feet a break) that we bought from Parrotdise Perch. She also had some grapevine ones from a friend but she was TERRIFIED of them!

So we stopped using grapevine...
Birds need lots of different types of perches for healthy feet. Just using one or two different types is like us wearing the same shoe for our whole life; boring and uncomfortable!

I saw those perches at PetSmart last weekend but sticks from the yard would work? It would sure be cheaper.

I think I'll try that after I make darned sure there aren't any bugs on them.
You have to make sure they are from a safe tree... there are many lists online you can google that will show a list of safe and unsafe woods. There are many poisonous trees, so be careful!

Once you find a safe one you'll have to clean it properly (bake, bleach, etc.) to make sure there are no other bird germs etc. that could make your baby sick.
