Hey all,

Just wanted to drop a line to say hello to everyone. For the past few days Kirby has been kist talkin up a storm. Is this a vocal time of year for them ? Not that I mind at all, Just funny to see him act this way. Anyone else's lil guys or gals talkin it up out there?

It must be in the air! What are some things your little Kirby guy says?

I don't know if it's something in the air or the planetary alignment or what, but Truman has been chatty lately too. He seems to focus on one "word of the day." Today it's "Step up, step up!"

Tucker is 15/16 weeks old. But so much has changed in the last week ... the last DAYS. Keep in mind this bird of ours has me talking to him plus FOUR kids, throughout the entire day. Then hubby at night. So his flock is large and he's determined to communicate.

When it happens, it happens fast! Listen for the little muttering sounds -- deep rumbling chattering usually as they're preening or sleepy. I just have a really strong feeling that Dolce will be a great talker and keep our forum buzzing!

P.S. Read my signature and remember ... Tomorrow is a mystery!

Tubby was a year old in April. He just started talking yesterday. I really don't know what he is saying but it's very loud and it's a word. I never realized that he didn't talk. Another thing to think about, is he could be a she. I rescued him/she and I don't care what /which he is. Ducan was thought to be a male , but started laying eggs. She has laid 5 eggs in the past week. I hope # 5 is the last one. Her other owner told me that when she started laying eggs, she became mean, that was 4 years ago. She lays an egg every other day. I hope this was her last one for this year's egg laying season. Every day between eggs she comes out of her cage to sit under my chin and say, "Snuggle, snuggle". Then she goes back in her cage to prepare for another egg. Anyone in the Mansfield, Oh. area that has a QP that doesn't fit your lifestyle, e-mail me here and I will give him/her a loving home. I might even tell you that I will find your fid a great home, but more than likely that will be a lie. When that fid comes in the front door, it will probably stay here. My husband , that never cared for the fids, now call them Chinn babies. Tubby , he calls Chinn Boy. wub.gif

SweetPea turned 9 months old on the 18th. He has been home with us for a week. I became completely smitten with him at the store where I work - he is the first Quaker parrot I have ever seen! Anyway, he was starting to talk in the store, saying "Step up", "Hello" and kissing noises in your ear when he was on your shoulder. He is quieter here at home, I am assuming he is just getting used to things. This bird is so much fun!

We got Cosmo last November when he was 4 months old and for months we thought he would never talk. Now he is talking up a storm too! He says hello, hello sunfire(our lovebird's name), what's up, good boy, pretty bird, come here, go away and I love you. He also barks, growls and wolf whistles. He learned to growl and say go away one day when my middle son was playfully wrestling with me near his cage. Cosmo had a fit and raced to the side of the cage where we were and began squaking and bobbing his head rapidly. My middle son refers to this as trash talking quaker style. I growled at my son and told him to go away and Cosmo immediately growled like I did. Pretty soon he was also saying go away as well. He also kisses my youngest son and tells him bye when we leave the house. We have learned that Quaker parrots pack a lot of personality in a little body.

Thats sooo great to hear that im not the only one out there gettin my ear talked off to !! LOL Kirby is almost 5 years young and seems his vocab getts better and better with each day. Tricks he does not do too much but talkin is one of his awesome gifts.
