hi there tobi wakes between 6.45 and 7am without fail! dry.gif well we all got to sleep in until 7.26am!! biggrin.gif i opened my eyes and couldnt believe the time!! ohmy.gif and to be blessed having it happen on a sunday morning!! i know it maybe a small thing to others but after 5 months of waking everymorning at the same hour and leaping out of bed before he wakes every one else it was wonderful. wub.gif
i think i have nailed the flock calling!! a little anyhow. just want to share what i do now after the flock calling was driving us all insane. huh.gif i looked on this forum and tried different things. we would squirt him until he was dripping and it tore at my heart when i would see him sitting there all wet and looking at me with those big eyes... so i canned that and thought back to when i had a baby dry.gif ( my children are teenagers now) when i went to a different room i took them with me if they cried out or i felt that they would get upset if they couldnt see me. we have a small open plan house so tobi can see me when im in the kitchen/lounge. and when i go down the hall it has a t junction off to bedrooms/bathroom he cant see me and the flock calling was unbearable!! so what i do now if i know i am going to be down there for a while as in making beds getting ready for work or helping the girls etc.. i grab his little playgym in one hand and tobi in the other and voila!!! silence! he loves it and climbs up and down it.... he comes to investigate in each room etc... then i put him back in his cage when we go into the lounge area!! he seems to be satisfied with that... also if i leave the room for a mini he flock calls and i just whistle back to him... after a few weeks he seems to be getting the hang of it he will flock call then start whistling which then i will reply with a whistle etc... now why everyone is still sleeping dry.gif and im on here tobi is on his playpen which is on the floor playing with a piece of paper..... wub.gif where usually he would be in his cage flock calling his little heart out!! so really i think if you take on these kind of animals there are certain sacrifices that you have to make just like having another baby!! they arent just another bird in the cage!! rolleyes.gif wow i have rambled!!! cool.gif

That works with Clyde, too. He just wants to be sure you're nearby, I think, and whistling to him and playing Simon Says (he makes a certain sound, you repeat it) reassures him that you are there and you're paying attention to him.

Its true my little reggy will whistle for me and when i am in the parlor i will whistle for him after i hear him whistle.. we go back and forth for 10 min then i go see him with a treat and kisses of course.. its so cute.. he just started this a few days ago...

COol. sounds like u got it worked out. Heres a thought. Have you thought of covering his cage at night? I always cover my xerxeys cage at 930 sharp and don tuncover him until 8amsharp. I use a dark bed sheet and it works. though for some how xerxey always lets out a loud beep at 815 am and i think thats because he hears us talking in our bed. but give that a try to and see what happebs.also a cover might help him feel more secure and safe. smile.gif

tobi cage is covered with a dark grey material that was especially made to fit his cage by my mother on a visit here...thanks mum. biggrin.gif he does like to go to bed as soon as it gets dark.he is in the same room as us (lounge) and we watch tv listen to music and he is fine with all of it. when i cover him i say good night and he squeaks back at me and thats it. we had a few guests the other night and of course after a few drinks the music was turned up and the dancing queens came out of us all.... not one peep out of tobi i checked on him and he was snoring!!!!! i still had to wake early the next day, but that was ok. its good to start the day early wink.gif i always play music and sometimes its low and sometimes it gets loud.... and he is not phased by it. it will take a little while for him to get used our routines and ways.... thats ok by us cause we love him.......sooooo...cute....!!! wub.gif

Dont be surpprised if your lil quaker greets you with this phrase one moring instead of flock calling wink.gif

I call back to our lil qp "where are you?" in hopes one day he will learn to call this out instead smile.gif

If the mornings are an issue qp's cages can always be covered at night smile.gif
