Kestrel
Hi everyone! I have been lurking around here for a few months now, and I thought it was about time to join biggrin.gif

I'm a teenager, and I don't have any birds yet, but I am looking into getting one. I will ask for your guys' advice on that issue in the general birds section, but I just I might as well introduce myself. You can call me Kestrel (wow, as if that wasn't obvious XD).

My parents run a dog boarding and training center on our property, so I've been around animals all my life. We've got two dogs, two cats, and a few fish tanks (which are my thing; my main one is a semi-planted 75 gal with various freshwater fish). My family and I like to fish, hunt (not me so much, I don't have the patience, hehe. Mainly it's waterfowl or pheasants and the like), and play/watch hockey (my brother plays and my dad coaches, but I LOVE to watch!). I personally like to take pictures, paint watercolor, and sketch. Yeah, just some random info there XD

I'm looking forward to being a member of the forum!

Hello and welcome to the forum. I'm glad you decided to join. I see Carrie Anne told you think Linnies. They are so precious and I'd have one in a snap if I had room and time for another bird.
Nice to hear you like to paint. I have painted for almost 67 years. YES, I'm old. I started painting when I was 4. I do watercolors and LOVE them, as well as oils, acrylics, alkyds, chalk pastels, oil pastels and can get pretty serious with colored pencils. If done correctly, not just colored in, but shaded and highlighted correctly, colored pencils can be absolutely stunning!!! I have painted for profit now for 46 of those years.
I love aquariums too and have had some pretty impressive fresh water fish in the past. I gave them up when my house burned and fried my fish in 1987...or should I say boiled them?

Good luck finding your bird. Keep us updated! I like that you are doing your homework first!

Thanks for the welcomes!

Wow, that must be a fun job! I've done a few things with acrylics, but I'm not that good with them XD I like to do watercolor paintings of Biblical symbolism (my favorite is the lion and the lamb). I do like using colored pencils, and especially watercolor pencils. I'm sorry to hear about your house and the fish, that must have been rough! I will keep everyone here updated biggrin.gif
