Received the new cage we ordered from queen city pets. It is awesome!

As of matter of fact, "Sunny" my conure enjoyed exploring the cage as I
was putting it together. He seems to have taken to it so well, I think
I am going to let him have this one and order an identical one just like it
for the new quaker coming home soon.

Its nice and roomy and Sunny took to it immediately. He is asleep right now
in his other cage as to not rush the process, but I have the new cage next
to his so that he can get used to it and go back and forth which is what
he has done this evening. We will give it a few days before we move
the happy hut in there.

Its great--- very pleased with this cage. I will be ordering another one.
Plus the price is great for this size cage and free shipping!

This is what we received: http://www.queencitypets.com/8002422.asp

I have the exact same cage and I love it. My QP didn't...my Sun Conure did, so guess who got it? tongue.gif

Thanks. That sounds just like my situation. Although, I hope my new quaker baby will love it.
Looks like my conure is getting this first one. Better to have him adjust to it now before the new
baby gets here.

I wonder what it making yours not like the cage, have any ideas on that??

OH and Thanks. I was just sending a reply back on your new baby foal!
Congratulations again . It is beautiful. I am very fascinated by your lifestyle
and everything that you have seemed to be a part of with the horses and the other animals.
It sounds like you are really getting to live what you love!

I think that is wonderful. You must have a great support system around you.

I love Queen City Pets. I bought my cage from there for Mr. Kiwi and he absolutely Loves it.

Great cage and if it the first cage you put your QP in he will soon be use to it , problems usually only occure if you have your fid in another cage they are use to and then you want to change...
Congratulations its a beaut cage ..share some piccys when you have your Sunny set up in it..

I have it and like it, except for the seed catcher. It's in 4 pieces and REALLY hard to get together the correct way. I just leave it off.
QPdad
That's the same cage Willie has except his bar spacing is 5/8.

I thought he'd be afraid of it but when I got it put together and took him to it, he was leaning out toward it before we even got close. He has loved it since he first laid eyes on it.

I also took the seed catcher off too. Willie doesn't throw his food out so it was just a poop catcher.
Casey's Mom
It looks like a nice cage! smile.gif I'm glad your Sun likes it! biggrin.gif

I was actually looking at that cage but on a different site, but on the other site it says it's 5/8" so I was just wondering if it really is 3/4" or 5/8"? Not that it makes a huge difference but every cage I find and fall in love with I'll find on another site and it gives different bar spacings even though it's he same cage. huh.gif wacko.gif So now I'm getting confused! lol

Thanks! smile.gif
Sunny and Friend
To Caseys Mom --- That is a great question on the bar width because I noticed that as well on another site same cage.
When I read your question, I went it actually measured it myself just to check. IT is REALLY 5/8" between the bars,
which is good, but it is 3/4" measured center to center. So I think what is happening is one company list the measurements
from center bar to center bar and the other is actually listing the space between the bars.

With that said --- IT IS 5/8" if that makes you feel better. It does me and I am glad you brought it up.

By the way everyone -- so much for taking my time moving "Sunny" into the cage. It is already a done deal!
One and half days is all it took. He is in and was more than ready. We moved his happy hut in and I set up his cage exactly the same setup
with same perches that I just moved from one cage to another so it is familiar. He is picky but he likes his cage
a certain way. So its done and I am cleaning the other one up as we speak. I am going to put this one in my office
and use it as another resting perch for Sunny and the New Baby Quaker when it comes home.

Just took some photos of Sunny on the new cage. Will have them up shortly.

Casey's Mom
Thanks Carmen! smile.gif I guess that explains the differences with all the cages I'm finding, each company must measure differently.

I'm glad Sunny likes his new cage! biggrin.gif

Darn. We almost bought that cage but were scared of the bar space. Ergh. Of course, I purchased a different cage yesterday.

How long did it get your cage from Queen City?
Sunny and Friend
Thanks.

It only took about 5 business days to have it in hands from the day I ordered. FAST SERVICE.
I ordered another one today (for new baby coming) and I expect by FRIDAY.

Here is a photo of Sunny on the first one we bought in the SAND color.

THanks Majj --- for helping me with the avatar and signature steps.

Although I cannot seem to just copy a photo into the actual reply message.

Is it a different step???

Sorry I just cannot seem to figure it out.
Sunny and Friend
Hello Majj

Thanks again for helping with the avatar and signature link helps.

Although, when I am trying to just put a copy of a photo below
a message (a one time photo) I keep getting this message

THE FOLLOWING ERROR(S) WERE FOUNDSorry, dynamic pages in the [IMG] tags are not allowed

What does that mean. DO you have any idea what I am doing
wrong. I have these photos in my file as well as in the photobucket site.

I want to put the actual image here as opposed to the link but cannot
seem to figure it out on these.

??????

Thats good you got fast delivery. I didn't think of the holiday when I ordered. I know the cage was shipped out yesterday, but DHL is not updating the delivery. So I am hoping it is here by Tuesday.

When you put the image up on photobucket use the "Direct Link" code. That should work. (So click the icon that looks like a picture and when that pop up box opens, use the "Direct Link" code from photobucket and click ok)

FYI when you have typos, there is an edit button you can use on your posts. I think posts stay editable until someone responds.
Majj
To paste a Picture from Photobucket directly into your message copy and paste the last line under your picture....

Sunny and Friend

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
I finally did it.

What I finally figured out is not to copy the [IMG} part of the link code. I
finally only highlighted inbetween that code and it worked.

Thanks for everyone's help.

I am very excited as I am going to go see new baby here in a little bit.
I am going to try and see if I can bring it home. It was still on 2 feedings
a day of formula and has shown some sign of eating pellets (dry pellets that is)
but my baby was born around March 15th which makes it 4 months old.
I am ready to take it myself and get it weaned. I don't want to tell the
breeder what to do but I am going to take a banana with me and see
if I can water down the pellets some and see if I can actually get the baby
to eat while I am there. I feel like it is dragging out and she has too many
birds to deal with besides mine. Is that wrong of me to want to step in
or should I leave it be???

She is adimate about not letting it go until its ready and that is one thing
I do like about her as a breeder but at the same time, it should not take
this long in my opinion. I have read enough to see that so many
people get them way earlier and I feel like I am losing bonding time here.

Oh well -- will try and take some pics when I go see him/her.
Also hope to ge the DNA tests this week.

Most breeders around here hold on to their birds for about 3-4 months before getting them fully weaned and ready for sale (depending on bird type, Quakers do take longer to wean; often you will see them 5-6 months old before they are for sale). For us, our lovies were born at the end of May, so the earliest we will have them weaned and for sale would be the middle of September if they are fully weaned by the end of August. At the rate they are weaning they will probably be fully weaned by the end of July. The Quaker I will be happy if he is weaned by September (I am hoping he isn't one of those stubborn birds that doesn't wean for 18 months!!)
Sunny and Friend
Thanks. That does make me feel better.
I am beginning to get worried that something was not going properly.

Went to see him/her today and breeder told me she actually fed
it 4 times yesterday just to see if it what it was going to do.
She said it refused the 4th feeding, so she was going to cut back
again. It is not showing any signs here in the last few days of
trying any pellets, so it sounds like it may be a little while.

If that is what you find, then I need to be more patient. Thanks.

I just took delivery of the same cage. The seed catcher goes on easily, but the little clips they provide to hold it together are a disaster. I'm using some heavy duty binder clips; they are not easily removed and do the job.

Has anyone rigged a toy hanger for the play area? The end of the dowel seems to cry for one.

I spoke too soon. He binder clips do hold the ends together, but they are easily dislodged. I'm using bolts now. cool.gif
