Hey everyone!! My names Heather and I just got two quakers yesterday!! Happy fourth to me!! LOL
Anyway, they are male and female and from what the lady told me that I got them from, have produced quite a few babies! I am not at all experienced with breeding, babies, hand feeding, etc. so I am going to take my time and learn absolutely everything I possibly can about my new babes.
Since they are breeders, I don't think they have ever been handled so I would love to try to work with them to see if I can get them use to us humans. I love them very very much already and I want them to have a happy, healthy life. I look forward to any advice yall can give me and I look forward to all the things I can teach my feather buddies, and everything they can teach me!! wub.gif

Hi Heather, Welcome to the forum! If you haven't done so already, you might want to invest in a book called "A Guide To Quaker Parrots" by Mattie Sue Athon. Its full of lots of very useful information about our beloved Quakers. Then if you can, I'd go in search of a mentor with lots of bird experience, perhaps the person you got the pair from. Ask them to teach you what they know. When it comes time for raising babies hopefully they will invite you to come watch and learn how to do it correctly.

Also as far as taming a pair of breeders down...well, it's not unheard of but its pretty difficult especially if they weren't really pets before they were paired up. Once they've been paired off and have bonded, they don't want human contact other than for someone to give them food and fresh water. If they were pets previously you might have a chance to retame them to some degree but you can be sure you're going to receive an awful lot of hard bites.

Anyway. welcome once again to our family lot of great people here who are more than happy to share their experience or point you in the right direction as to where to find it.
