If anyone is not already aware of this recipe, then I wanted to share it with you.
I found this one from other local breeders in our area.
It is a cornbread and corn square.
If you take a box of JIFFY cornbread mix, and mix it with a can of CREAM STYLE CORN.
Add the egg and milk and can of corn all together and bake it at 350 for about 35 minutes
or until the top gets a little brown.
Let it cool completely and cut it into squares and place them into a freezer bag.
Each morning, I take one square and defrost it to where it is slightly warm.
I break my square up for "Sunny" and mix it with other fruits and vegatables and
that is his breakfast. He is so used to that that that is what he expects
and waits for 1st thing each morning. This is his FAVORITE food next to grapes.
this will last for a little while unless you are feeding more than one bird. I am hoping
my new quaker will take to this as well.
He also likes elbow macaroni past and spagetti.

that is great.
For those interested -- this has become the best dish during Thanksgiving. Tops all other casseroles at our house.
CORN CASSEROLE (for humans that is by personal request from member of forum)
2 eggs
1/2 cup melted butter
1 cup sour cream
16oz can Whole Kernal Corn
16oz can Cream Style Corn
and 1 package JIFFY CORNBREAD MIX.
Mix all together and bake at 350 30 to 35 minutes or until slightly brown on top.
This is also the easiest dish to make during thanksgiving.
I will say that it is important to use ONLY JIFFY CORNBREAD MIX. we have tried with other cornbreads and it just isn't the same.
If you cannot find that brand, then use something you like well that is a sweet cornbread.
Thanks for asking. You will NOT be disappointed.

Not a very big one.
It seems as though about an 8" casserole dish is big enough.
Believe me it will go fast and it is ALWAYS gone with no leftovers.
Have fun with it! This is making me hungry, gotta go!

For the birdie bread version, you can also add things like the crushed up shell of the egg so that its getting extra calcium the sneaky way, you can add chili peppers, I add mixed frozen veggies sometimes, I might add some small pelleted food cooked dry beans, cooked rice etc. the variations are endless and its a great way to sneak things it to get them to try it with out them freaking out over something "different" cuz the bread still looks the same.
As for the corn casserole recipe, sounds like what my granny used to make but she also added either chopped up ham or crispy bacon. That sound more up QPdad's alley huh Buddy??
Thanks for sharing your recipes.

This works great, always include the shell, and bake in mini muffin tins, and freeze. The perfect breakfast, fast and easy to thaw and feed. My baby is plucking, can anyone help. It is terrifying seeing him naked.

Thanks for the recipes. I will definitely try the human one
I make a corn bread for our birds that has organic mixed veggie and sweet potato baby food, an egg (with the shell of course), and sometimes corn or small pieces of broccoli.
What kind of creamed corn do you buy? We usually steer clear of canned veggies - even for the humans - due to sodium.

Hey there everyone!
Great idea on adding different things to the cornbread birdie cake recipes.
Just wondering and following up to see if the HUMAN VERSION (GOT THE SEAL OF APPROVAL)?
For the corn -- I usually buy the generic version of what the grocery store has at the time. Nothing special.
