2" Flat bottom PVC caps with the 1/2" pvc grafted to the bottom so it fits into the 1/2" t fitting so you can remove the bowls for cleaning.

Thank you. Like I said it's a work in progress and needs some minor tweaking and accessories but I'm pretty happy with the overall form.

COOL...can`t wait to see the finished product Birds and all...
Just a thought are those bolts you used Stainless steel or if not are you going to cover them as the birds WILL chew on them for sure.. (;

I thought they were stainless steel. I purposely looked for stainless because I know about metal poisoning in birds. But when I looked on the box that they came in no where does it say stainless or for that matter any other metal. I sure as heck hope they are not zinc coated. I even went to the manufacturers website and it does not mention what the metal is or if any coating process is used. I think I will have to take all of them out that are accessible to the birds unless anyone has a suggestion.

Took a few hours to design and a few hours to build, but it was fun! It's kinda like Lincoln Logs for adults.

Plus I love my little guys

, so it was definitely worth it.

My hubby and I made one similiar and we didn't use any bolts. We just pushed them together with the joint connector and no problems coming apart yet.We also have twine on some of the levels and vet wrap on the middle section but it stays together even without bolts..just a suggestion....looks great though

I built the last few ones just like you guys did. I wanted to make this one different. My older ones are still together too, however I must say that this one is much stronger a structure than the previous ones I have built and I'm pretty sure it has to do with the screws tie-ing the entire structure together.Nothing wrong though with not using them though, just no-one use glue please!

Love it!! Stupid question....where can you buy PVC or whatever it's called? And what size to get for a green monster? I guess that's two stupid questions eh?
Way2Bizzy

Pickle's Mum- get it at whatever hardware store is nearby in the plumbing section. I bought some at Lowe's recently for around $1.50 per 10 ft length. They also have the elbows and T-fittings to connect the pieces. I used 1" pipe.
G&G-- Do you plan to cover the pvc with twine or vet wrap or something else for grip? If you cover with vet wrap you can leave the screws in and they'll be covered over- just watch out if the fids pick at the wrap to make sure the screw heads stay covered.

I have to agree, that looks really great! I would just cover all of the screw with vet wrap. It is very inexpensive and also the birds will be able to have something to grip while playing. So you will solve two problems with one solutions. JMO

Where can I get this wrap at?

It looks great!
We didn't use bolts or anything to hold the PVC together, they stayed together fine without anything. My friend makes some PVC play stands too and she uses a regular glue gun to hold it together (as long as you glue away from the fids).
Vet wrap looks like this:

You can usually buy it at pet stores, vets offices etc. It's basically like a soft cast that is self-adhesive and is used on animals (horses, dogs, cats, birds etc.) We bought ours at Parrotdise Perch but I think I've seen it at Petsmart too. I personally didn't like using vet wrap on our stand, Casey just shreds it and I'm worried that she'll eat it (which is probably unlikely) I sanded the PPVC first to create a grip and that works great IMO.
Looks like your birds will be very happy with their new playstand, it looks fantastic!

Great job!

Oh how cool is that!!! You did a fantastic job. You babies will be in heaven playing on that. Very creative. I might need to get my hubby to look at and get him to make me one. He just loves my honey and birdie doos!!! I wish I could find the vet wrap around here. I will have to ask my vet. He is pretty good at supplying us anything that he thinks we need for our birds that we can't get. Anyway Awesome Job!

It is 100% hemp rope, that my darling wife turned into cool cargo nets by tying knots into. I have alot of patients but I tip my hat to her because I got frustrated just watching her.

She said it was the least she could do, since I designed and built the rest of it myself.

OH! You have a Senegal! I have one two, about 2 weeks now. Can you tell me anything about their personalities? Like are they cuddlers? Rocko is pretty shy still, he will barely come out of the cage, but I think he is warming up some, and he has recently been through a lot of moving from house to house. So, I am just waiting for him to get comfy at his new perma-home. I already know what clowns they can be, he is always hanging upside down from the top of his cage! So FANCY!!
