Full Version: How Is This For A Single Quaker Cage?

I have been looking all around for a good sized Quaker cage for my new friend that I'll get in a month or so. I picked the Avian Adventures Chiquita Playtop Cage. I want to know if anyone has any problems with it staying together, since it doesn't bolt together but rather clips together.

The only thing that concerns me is the bar spacing, 3/4 of in might be too big if your quaker is just a baby. I bought my cage at
queen city pets. The cage is 26 x 20, with 5/8 inch bar spacing. http://www.queencitypets.com/GA82620.asp Even tho the picture say 3/5 for bar spacing, it is 5/8ths

it looks great but i think they have a version called "nina" that is a lil smaller but with safer bar spacing smile.gif might have to check on their actual website for it though... happy shopping!

wow thats very expensive our is like 2X that size for that price i would say shop around a little more and make sure like the others said your bar spacing is correct
Good Luck!

Watch craigslist in your area they always have great listings and you could probably get something much bigger at a cheaper price

I think someone has mentioned before the bar spoacing sizes are questionable depending on if they are measured inside bar to inside bar or the actual mid bar to mid bar...so in reality the bar spacing could be 5/8 maybe you could email and ask them to re measure just the inside space...
I like the one you have shown..yes it is a bit dearer than some others but it really your choice as to what you like the best .. smile.gif

I emailed the company that makes the cage and told them that I plan on having a Quaker in it and this is what they said..

"Good morning!

When we designed the cages, we consulted with avian veterinarians and breeders to determine appropriate spacing, bar gauge, etc. However, you know your bird best, and we always recommend that prospective purchasers consider their individual birds and their needs before deciding on a cage. You may want to also check with your breeder or vet as they will know your bird better than we do! J[/color]
