Hello all. happy.gif

I haven't been here in a long time but was on the list when it was a list when we first got Squawky Quaker 9 or so years ago when he was a baby. I needed to know how to integrate a rescued wild caught Quaker into our home <sigh> and thought this was just the place to start! "Pearl" was originally to be a breeder but before that happened the male got loose and flew away. She's been in a cage with a perch, water bottle, and food dish for a long time without a lot of human interaction. I offered to take her years ago but they weren't interested then. We'll just take it slow and do what we can.

We also have an 8 year old DNA female military macaw, Scooter. She is finding the proceedings fascinating, especially since I made her two new toys today. smile.gif

Congrats on Pearl.

Sounds like you saved that bird and are giving it a life.
that is great for you but especially for the bird.

Have fun with her.

Thank you for the welcome! Pearl is doing well today and we may have a new cage for her. Boy, does she need it. She took some bites out of an offered cucumber which really made me happy because she's not been used to anything but seeds AND she took it from my fingers! She watches to see what Squawky does and he loves his veggies. When we have another dish for her she will get lots of veggies to dig through. One thing at a time... She never went back to her old water bottle after I put a new one in and she took to the new clean perches too. She didn't seem to mind being covered last night for the first time in her life. I covered the others first and left her enough open to peep out. Squawky has definitely been more energized since she got here. biggrin.gif Scooter seems to be perkier too.
