I was reading about quaker training and have had several sources recommend a t-stand for playing and training. I was wondering how many of you experienced quaker parronts had one. If so, where's the best place to order one from? Did anyone make one? The ones I have looked at cost almost $200, which costs more than her cage! They are usually made for giant parrots, too. I just need something small, simple, and about 3-4 feet tall so Ava can hang out with me in other rooms while she's training/playing. I don't want to get a cage top playground because as it is, her cage is really tall, and I don't want to start arguing about dominance issues. THANKS everyone!

We have a little table top stand (about 1 foot by 1 foot) as well as a big playstand and they both are made out of PPVC. The ones for sale are so expensive and IMO it's much easier and cheaper to make your own. There are lots of links in the DIY section that show different playstands that people have made to give you some ideas. biggrin.gif You can use wood (untreated pine works well) or PVC and the links etc. that hold toys and stuff in place should be stainless steel. wink.gif

It's great to have a stand in a different room (from the cage) so that she has a place to go to while your busy doing other things, but she can be with you at the same time. smile.gif Casey also has a 'playground' on top of her cage including a boing hanging from the ceiling... she spends a good portion of her day playing up there. biggrin.gif

Good luck and if you decide to build one, happy building! smile.gif

We don't have one, though Hubby said he could make one. Clyde generally rides around on my shoulder the whole time he's out of the cage and has become quite adept at hanging on while I do things. If I simply can't manage with him there, Hubby lets him sit on his shoulder while I go throw a load in the washer or whatever.

You can usually find table top stands....like this one I have on my bench top ...
or big ones like I have in my family room. or make a play tree with a pot a branch and pebbles to hold the branch in place.. smile.gif

If you want something small that you can move room to room table top stands such as these
portable stand
can be found at most pet stores for around 20 to 30 dollars.
The one i have is 30 dollars and I got it because its bigger and has two dishes on it. I just put newspaper underneath it for his droppings and I can move it from room to room and place on tables so he can hang out with me.

huh.gif Opps I have one of them too.... Near the fids bath.... biggrin.gif I have at times used it elsewhere ..and I bought two bowls to fit inside the bowls so I didn`t need to un-screw the attached bowls all the time to wash.. smile.gif

You can easily build one. It might cost you ten dollars and take you an hour to make. Plus its alot of fun too biggrin.gif

Ha. I had the same idea and bought two little bowls like yours to put in Squawky's play stand (just like the black stand but white) and it made him livid!! For the longest time he did not rest until he had thrown them out!! rolleyes.gif

lol Michele, our friend made us the exact same thing for Casey! biggrin.gif It works quiet well and it's very easy to move around with you. smile.gif Casey doesn't like to stay on it for long periods of time, but it is very handy to have...
