Hello everyone,

Me and my girlfriend got our quaker (Keiko) about 3-4 months ago now and everything is perfect smile.gif
Having said that, she bites at other people when she is on my shoulder, its not just when they want to hold her but if they even come near me she really lunges at them (male or female). If its my partners hand and my friends hand near me she knows who's is who and will try and bite my friend but is happy to go to my parnter.

I was just wondering if we can get her to be more willing or friendly towards letting other people hold her or come near (generally if she is on someone else initially and sees me she wants to come to me, but at least she isnt biting she just chirps and tries to find a way). Is there any training exercises we can do for her? rolleyes.gif

Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

Sounds like she's trying to protect her people from other people and that she thinks they're a threat of some kind. It might just take letting her see your friends often enough that she'll get used to them and realize they're not going to hurt you or her. I don't think I'd force the issue -- that might only scare her, and while I'm no expert on Quakers (I've had mine only a couple of months), I've seen my various dogs over the years behave in a very similar fashion, and it's fear that makes them behave like that -- they feel threatened and protective at the same time, and trying to make them be nice to someone they fear or consider a threat will only make it worse. With friends who come over regularly, they eventually warm up to them and stop acting like that. Let her stay in her cage and get used to their voices and their scent and presence and don't let them go looming over her in her cage or trying to make her let them hold her unless she's calm around them.
