This is my first post although I've been lurking for about a month or so. Tomorrow I am adopting my new little buddy, *Gus* from The Wildlife Care Center here in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He's an older little guy (they had babies but I just fell in love with him). I put in the application to adopt him about a month ago. However, they've been holding him for tests, as he plucks a little bit as well as them attempting to convert him to pellets (which was a success as of this week!).
I just bought him the biggest cage that I could find (that was reasonably affordable) and a ton of toys. Not really sure what kind of stuff he likes, so I got him destructable toys, shiny toys, colorful toys, etc. I'll also be making most of his toys and have the blue prints ready to go for a play gym. I just don't want to overwhelm him at first.
He's been moved around alot this month between different vet techs and trailers and offices, so I'm going to give him as much time as he needs to adjust to his new surroundings.
I can't wait to get him home! I love him already and want to give him the best life possible. I look forward to all the advice I'm sure I'll receive on here. This is a great online forum. :-) I'll also post pics after I get him settled
Thanks!
Kate (& and soon to be Gus)
