I picked Gus up, my little rescue from the Wildlife Care Center, this morning at 9am. The minute I walked into the room, he told me hello :-) which the adoption coordinator was happy to see, as he obviously remembered me and he doesn't talk to many people apparently. He came right to me and gave me some snuggles. I'm telling you, Gus and I bonded the minute we met over a month ago. I put him in his new little carrier which he went into without protest and we were on our way home.

We got home. I showed him his cage, talked to him about it, let him look at it. I put him on a perch. And really he has no interest in being in there at all. Poor little guy has been in 3 new cages over the past 2-3 weeks, as he was getting moved around to different trailers and vet tech's homes to try to convert him to pellets.

He climbed around a little bit inside, but mostly was just trying to get to me. Then he started pacing at the bottom of the cage, staring at me the whole time. I was going to call in sick to work to stay with him, but I think that if I did that, he would just fixate on me all day and not start to get used to his cage. So I just left and came into work. My g/f is there though for the day, but he's not really that interested in her. But she can keep at eye on him for me. I've called her 3 times in the past half hour haha. Apparently he's checked out a few things in the cage since I left. I might have put a few too many toys in it (I couldn't help myself!), so if he seems freaked out, I'll take a few out and reintroduce them later.

I snuck in a few shots before I left. You can see he's plucked a little under his wings and on his belly. Per the adoption staff, he does this when he goes for long periods of not having anyone around. Luckily, between me, my g/f and roomie, there is always someone around.

Looking forward to having this little guys as a permanent part of the family smile.gif wub.gif

Gus is a lucky guy. Ohhh what a cutie he is. wub.gif LOve the pictures and his cage is nice. I think you did great in going to work that would be a really really really hard thing to do. It's often said on here to not spend more time with them in the beginng that you plain
to spend with them after the new wears off.
(It's been almost four years for me and the new is still on. LOL biggrin.gif )
Hope time go's fast for you till ya get home!!!! tongue.gif

Welcome to the forum. Gus is adorable and one lucky bird to be adopted by someone so dedicated to making him happy.
The toys and the cage look just right to me. I know you are going to adore this little guy. He will have you wrapped around his little feather in no time! wub.gif
