I'm bringing home our weaned baby (8.5 weeks old) in 3 days, and I need a little help knowing how to set up the cage accordingly. I'm picking up all the perches and toys from the breeder when I get the bird, so I'll have to put everything in the cage somewhat quickly when we return home. Does anyone have pictures of a cage set up for a little guy? I know that perches etc. need to be low, but how low? I have a large cage, will that be ok, or will the baby fly high and fall down?
This is a link to the cage that I have. Also, I have a Happy Hut, should I wait to put that in, or do so right away so that the baby gets used to it?

Hey you should set up your cage like he was an adult, or that is what I did and was told to do. You would want to keep in mind things like, where the food dishes are and if he will recognize him. I also put newspaper on the grate on the bottom of the cage, just in case Kermit didn't feel comfortable. Kermit had not been in a cage at all when I picked him up from the breeder. He did fine. It took him a week or two to become agile while moving around, and sometimes he still falls. Just keep an eye on your new fid and you should be able to see his limits and comfort zone.

Lindsey, how is the quality of that cage? Is the wire heavy duty? I am only asking because I have been kicking around getting that exact cage for a while now!! I have always just set my cage up like I would be for an adult bird but put TONS of layers of plain black and white newspaper on the bottom for cushion in case there are any falls!! Let me know about the cage please! We are getting our baby in a couple of weeks! Also, we want to see pix and is he/she named yet? I am THINKING of either Mickee, Tiki or Cyrus for our new one!! THanks,
