I remember reading that fids shouldn't be fed raw beans, but I'm planning to start sprouting soon. Can they have them this way?

Beans have to be raw to be sprouted. So, yes, that is okay.

Sprouted beans and other veggies are actually really good for your bird, it adds good protien to their diet. You're probably going to find that they'll eat them the best after they've just sprouted and maybe up to 2 days after that. Mine don't seem to care for them onces the sprout grows very long.

Most of mine havent taken to them too much, but I keep trying.

I stumbled across the site sproutpeople.com-- it is a fantastic resource! I spent a long time browsing through all the instructions, tips, etc and learned a ton. I'm suprised at how easy it *sounds* to do, and looking forward to starting...

I ordered some seed from sproutpeople.com a few weeks ago and am now on my third round of sprouting. Charlie absolutely loves them when feed to him right after the sprouts open. He too doesn't care for them after the sprouts have grown long. My only concern is how everyone says that you need to convert the fids to pellets. If this is so, why then are sprouts a recommended diet?

He has also become crazy about brocolli and rice. I have been giving him some each morning when I first wake. This morning, I waited a little longer and Charlie stood where the bowl always goes and screamed his head off until I feed him. It was really funny.
